Rider Safe: Reviews
Fantastic experience: Just moved up to the R-date licence. Ricky & Con could not have been more approachable, more than willing to dispense their years of accumulated knowledge in a friendly safe environment.
Fantastic experience: Great facilities. Great trainers.
Fantastic experience: I had an amazing experience, John and Darryl were great, helpful, and helped you relax. I managed to get the same guys for my Ls and my Rdate. Credit to those guys. Thank you
Negative experience: Wonderful staff and great instructors. Impossible to call on the phone with some people reporting 40 calls/7 hours waiting on hold. This meant I was unable to book my advanced rider course and had too book an extension on my L's.
Negative experience: They dont answer their phone after paying $$$ to do the course tuple service SA
Negative experience: They take your money and keep you on hold for 2 days or 4hour on the phone to make a booking
Negative experience: I called three times during their working hour in one day longest took me 45mins to wait. And I repeated it for 3 days. However the calls were not answered by any staff but just suddenly cut off with no reasons. I paid $429 for this??? Are you robbing my money with no any responses???
Negative experience: I have been on hold for over 7 hours trying to book in for a week now starting from 9am until close. The booking system is a joke, usually get hung up on every hour or so, ring back to get hung up on. Please, PLEASE, move to an online booking system!
Negative experience: This is a joke, how is no one able to answer the phone in 2 and a half hours.
Negative experience: Keep calling and getting hung up on after being on hold for over half an hour. I've been on hold collectively for over 6 hours in one day and still haven't gotten through. Very poor service
Negative experience: Instructors are good, but booking process needs some serious improvement. Can’t get though most of the time..
Negative experience: Instructors are fantastic. Booking system and lack of phone monitoring plus ridiculous cost in getting a license is a let down.
Fantastic experience: Spoke to amazing staff member Zenna, she explained everything in detail and made sure to answer any of my questions, the booking process was really smooth and quick. And the wait for the course isn’t even too long, I’m booked in only 2 weeks away (lots of time before December dw) It’s true the on hold wait times are longer than usual at the moment, but it’s clear the staff are all working hard to make sure everybody gets in
Negative experience: On hold for hours and have been hung up on over and over again. I'm not remotely kidding when I say, in all my life this is the worst customer service I've ever had. I have no idea what to do...
Negative experience: Writing this while on hold. Easily the worst experience I've had trying to ring/book something in. Roughly 7 hours so far between Friday last week and today (Monday) since 9am. Usually get hung up on after around 40-50mins but this current one is a new record. I truly believe not a single person would use their services if there was an alternative option. I am however grateful that this will be the last time I need to use Rider Safe for anything. If this system is designed to discourage people from getting their MC license, it's working!
Negative experience: Phenomenal customer service. They make you wait on hold for 2 hours so you can dwindle your fingers only to be hung up on. Step 1. Pay for course Step 2. Call to book Step 3. Wait for hours on end just for a 5 min conversation.
Negative experience: Doesn't answer phone. Paid for my course and now won't answer the phone to make my booking.
Fantastic experience: Darren and Pat are awesome instructors! I did my advanced learner courses today and I was nervous as hell and pretty rusty from not riding in a while. Thanks to Darren and Pat I learnt new riding skills and they made me feel comfortable and relaxed the whole time. They joke with the class and make it fun but also serious about the training at the same time. Very good day, Thanks again!
Fantastic experience: The course was very helpful. The instructors Lorraine and Con were patient and fantastic.
Fantastic experience: Excellent instructors, brilliant experience, thank you so much for your assistance to the tiny class of four. Appreciate your efforts, and you humour.
Fantastic experience: Super nice instructors, Don & Tom were fantastic. I’d never ridden a bike but I now know how to safely operate one on the road thanks to these absolute legends. These guys are responsible for putting riders on the road. If you’re complaining about failing, then you probably shouldn’t be on the road as a motorcyclist.
Negative experience: Calling them since yesterday for inquiry, no one picked up a call. It’s again been almost 1 hour continuously on one pickup the call, i have put all the recordings, gonna complain on it. Poor customer service….
Fantastic experience: Booked in for my basic rider safe course & the lady I had was amazing with her communication & very friendly. Her Name was Rana (Hopefully that's correct spelling)
Negative experience: If only there was another company available to do your test I have been waiting on phone for over an hour listening to the voicemail over and over again telling me they open from 9am to 4:30 At 4:31 the phone gets shut off .. complete waste of time .. are people actually employed here or is it an empty office with a phone constantly ringing I’ve tried to call 4 times now with the same outcome , rings until 4:31 then hangs up .with no available call back , or answering system Would be better if you could schedule times available to call you on your answering machine so that it doesn’t waste everybody’s time Very poor service Would not recommend But then who else does testing ? Yes no body
Fantastic experience: Cannot say enough about this course. Experienced teachers, well maintained bikes, i was anxious like any parent with child attending, however, the feedback from my child was positive so I can fully recommend this for anyone.
Fantastic experience: Just read a review by Owen, pretty much saying Lorraine should just answer phones; I was a bit nonplussed; when I was trained by Lorraine I took great comfort from a few things. Her obvious knowledge of the subject, and how seriously she takes motorcycle safety. Genuinely wanting to improve, I was open to this and as a result benefited greatly.
Negative experience: Hit and miss with instructors. Some are awesome and others should be fired for unprofessional and unsafe practices. An hour on hold to book. The site has turned into a club house where some instructors get paid to stand around and inflate their egos. Training material is American based which is not compliant or helpful. Alistair was super helpful as too was Simon. They are in it for the right reasons and are professional. Lorraine is rude, sarcastic, has a chip on her shoulder and should be demoted to admin where she can answer the phone! Instructors need to remember that we all have a car licence and know the road rules. Won't be returning to this site.
Fantastic experience: I had an exceptional experience for getting my RD. Lorraine and Peter provided top-notch guidance and training. Their expertise, patience, and dedication truly made the learning process enjoyable and effective. The training was comprehensive, and incredibly insightful. Lorraine and Peter's professionalism and passion for teaching are commendable. highly recommend.
Fantastic experience: John & Daz are excellent instructors..they know what supposed to do with great interpersonal skills & making it less stressful. Very nice chaps ! Very professional
Negative experience: Excellent guys who are good at what they do and make you feel comfortable and understand. I have never had a licence for a bike. I'm 60yrs old and understood my " watch the line technique " Very informative sessions and I really learnt a lot about safe bike riding. I thought I knew it all at 60 .Really enjoyed the experience and highly recommend that u do this safety course b4 riding without a licence thinking that you know it all . And besides these people r professionals that just want bike riding good without looking over your shoulders for cops ........thanks guys......RZ500w2 brilliant
Fantastic experience: The team here are excellent. Very experienced riders and related well to an interesting group of us.
Negative experience: Welcome to the ridersafe training program. Ridersafe is open for bookings between 9am to 430pm business days, Monday to Friday Prior to making a booking, course payment must be made over the phone or at your local service SA centre. For phone payments please contact 131084 A member of our team will attend to your call as soon as possible. Then after 20 mins they’ll hang up so you can call again and again and again. I’d like to rate it properly but all I’ve heard for the last two hours is the above sentences and I’m getting really annoyed!
Fantastic experience: I have been riding bike from years but thought to book the session. Instructor Tarak just made it worth taking the session. Got some valuable skills. Highly recommended.
Fantastic experience: The instructor Tarak -here was excellent. He was a quite open with lots of helpful advice for new riders and answer all questions thoroughly, very patient and understanding if you are nervous as well. He was fun to have session with.
Fantastic experience: Intensive sessions but trainers were amazing. Beyond helpful and encouraging. I don't understand where the bad reviews are coming from. I had nothing bad to say about any of the trainers I had.
Negative experience: Need to have someone to answer phones for bookings. Have waited on hold for more than an hour twice before giving up. Ridiculous!! The actual course and trainers are very good
Positive experience: So the 1st time I went I didn't feel overly comfortable. I had an instructor who kept calling me lady instead of using my name. He told me I pretty much failed (that was his exact words) after the second time out on the bikes and said I may just put you on the scooter instead of the bike so you have less to learn (if you pass on a scooter all you can ride is a scooter (automatic) until you redo the course on a manual bike.) Once the other instructor was told to pay me extra attention and actually talked through a few thing's with me and told me what I needed to work on I was okay. I failed the 1st day as they weren't confident with me. I re booked a couple weeks later making sure I had different instructors. That made a huge difference. They were encouraging, they used my name and they treated me as they did the rest of the class. The 2nd lot of instructors were also relaxed and whilst still taking the safety of all of us seriously were able to joke around which made the environment a bit more relaxed. I passed that class and now have my licence.
Fantastic experience: I had no prior experience in riding bikes but kudos to Don and Dean because they were amazing. They were patient but firm. The beginner course was very informative specially on how being safe on the road as a rider. I did make lots of phone calls before getting booked. Tip: Make payment over the phone with Service SA first before calling them for booking.
Fantastic experience: Even though I already had my license, I decided to do the course anyway... And glad I did. The trainers were fantastic and even though some of the content was old, was still relevent and applicable. You will get some valuable skills out of rider safe, highly recommend all motorcyclists do it.
Fantastic experience: So much great info was given and the instructors really take the extra step to make sure you know what they are teaching you. They were talking to everyone one on one to correct their mistakes. Really nice people and great experience, well worth the money!
Fantastic experience: Did my Advanced course last Friday and man it was superb easy! The instructors were nice and professional. Pretty stright forward!!
Fantastic experience: First time ever sitting on a motorcycle today, have a lot of struggling with the clutch by stalling the bike, I think I'm getting better at the end of the course eventhough the instructor advice me to retake my first day again to practice and gain more skill, definitely I will do it at the end of the month. Instructor is friendly and helpful, always cheering me up even when I made a dumb mistake. 5 stars for them
Fantastic experience: Complete noob with no experience I was patiently helped through my mistakes and frustration by very experienced riders with sharp eyes. Wisely repeated first day. Really needed the opportunity to spend more time practising alone to gain consistency in lieu of having to wait four weeks to repeat the whole process from start. More time on track! Bigger downside from instructors contradicting each other. Instructors (and videos) desperately need to be able say why and how some unintuitive things work. A list of what to do was insufficient. Despite my frustrations I am very grateful for the diligent care the instructors gave to help keep us L platers safe while we build our craft.
Fantastic experience: It was a very insightful course. A great tool to getting your learners permit. Prior riding experience goes a long way in this course. I think that the theory videos need to be updated, they are a little old. More funding into the ridersafe program from the government would be nice, for the staff as well as future participants. Other than that, a good experience. Thanks!
Negative experience: Calling for hours with no one answering over and over. Videos they make you watch are from the 70s? Also, the course is too small and not enough room to actually do what they require you to do. Then they fail you so quickly. No second chances. Seems very unfair to me as I felt confident in my ability to ride safely.
Negative experience: Examiner wants us to follow their own made rule, rather follow standard driving practice. Not happy at all. Waste my two days. Even I drive safe and well balance , I have to do my course again. Few people in my group not able to balance bike, they got permit.
Fantastic experience: Had a great time. Instructors Simon Lorraine and Ian were all awesome and easy to understand. Videos could do with updating but did get the message across.
Negative experience: Yesterday I watched my son complete the Advanced Rider Training course at St Agness. His bike number was the same as it was 10 years ago when he attended for his L plates. The rear tyres of the road bikes were bald and the bikes clearly have had their day. The instruction was very professional amd I take my hat off to the instructors who were working in an environment that desperately needs an upgrade . Videos dating from 1988 and were American. Discussion in feet and pounds?Really!!Surely we can make our own support materials that are up to date.. The entire concept of how we train riders in what is essentially about managing risk on a road must be developed urgently. Overall very dated and sadly poor value for beginner and advanced riders.
Negative experience: I went there not sure when my class was, a class was on and had started, not being sure if it was my class I asked one of the staff who said I cannot join and I asked if there were more classes that day and he blatantly lied and said no, I broke down, one of the other instructors came to assist me, talked to me, and said there was another class, printed out attendance and I was in that class for the day. The instructor who lied is a rude unprofessional person who not only wasn't any help, but actually did the complete opposite. If there was any other way to get my motorcycle licence I would do it
Fantastic experience: Did my advance course, Dave was very good, his tips on riding was simple but with great depth. Being an international rider his tips were very informative to tackle Aussie terrain especially the fast sweep turns. Keep the good work
Fantastic experience: Did a learner course, great people teaching you, if you don't go through first day without feeling confident you've done something wrong! Passed the test along with the rest of the group which weren't very good on first day but got very good day 2
Negative experience: Rider Safe Office hour should be updated. It seems the whole office is empty after 15:00. We are hoping these workers are not having some sort of tea party everyday after 15:00. If this is a private sector, we can be sure that this business won't last for more than a month.
Fantastic experience: All of the instructors are very friendly and made sure to point out anything I or others were doing wrong in a fair manner. I was given the impression that all of the people teaching were passionate about what they do and care about making sure new riders know what to look out for and are ready to ride on the road. Going through both the Rider Safe Basic and Advanced courses, both were memorable and fun experiences that I believe helped me set a good mindset for safe riding. 5 stars.
Negative experience: The reviews are polarising and after going through the course and attaining my license I can see why. First day we had Kane, who was fantastic, gave us good information and great riding technique theory. The second day we had a guy who I will refer to as Mr L, who was to be honest quite a bit past his use by date in regards to up to date riding safety information. The latter instructor seems to have a lot of misconceptions hard coded into his mind set, he thinks ABS is a government conspiracy to sell new bikes and otherwise useless in rider safety, directly contradicting government mandated teaching guidelines in the course. He is also extremely arrogant and not open to questions, on 3 occasions during our second day giving wrong instructions and then berating us for not following the proper technique. He really gave off the impression he was looking for confrontation and got quite hostile and in the face of one student in particular who didn’t seem to be fluent in English because he said the word ‘sorry’ too often. 2 ½ stars from me for the excellent advise from Kane, though you’ll need a thick skin to put up with Mr L.
Fantastic experience: The instructors here are excellent. They are quite open with lots of helpful advice for new riders and answer all questions thoroughly, very patient and understanding if you are nervous as well. And they throw in some jokes to break the ice which is always fun.
Fantastic experience: Very friendly, experts and professional. These people saves lives by teaching beginner the most important technics in bike riding. And work on and gives valuable instructions for each individual even when U r in a group of 8. Will highly recommend them to a beginner or to someone who is starting again.
Fantastic experience: Instructors are fantastic, their clear and concise instruction helped ease the group's nerves going into the advanced rider assessment. Instructors for the Learners course were as equally helpful and were very patient with those of us who had never ridden before.
Fantastic experience: Instructors here are lovely and very helpful. Bikes are in good condition and lessons are properly supervised. Downside is that this centre is the only one in the Adelaide area and can be very inconvenient for those living south of the city.
Positive experience: Friendly and helpful instructors, with clear and easy to follow instructions. Although, due to nervousness on my first day, I was invited to return (at no cost), and was put at ease by a lighthearted instructor. He allowed me to relax, enjoy what I was doing and have fun while learning new skills. I would recommend Rider Safe. The only thing I would suggest to improve the Basic Course, would be to run it over four days rather than crammed into two.
