Positive experience: I attended Highway Truck Training with my partner to obtain our HR licenses. Both of us were required to complete additional hours and assessment attempts. However, the front desk staff member insisted that we leave a positive review before we left, which I found to be inappropriate. I believe most of the good reviews for the same reason. The manager, Harman, is efficient when it comes to scheduling, but she lacks friendliness. She communicates with the trainers in a gruff manner, even in front of students, which I found uncomfortable to witness. I would like to commend the trainers, Kurt and Mark (Panda), for their patience, friendliness, and encouragement. They made the entire learning process enjoyable, and I am grateful for their support. However, there were some drawbacks. During my first assessment, I was assigned Malcolm as my assessor. I was not satisfied with his approach and would not recommend him as an assessor. He placed excessive focus on minor mistakes for his own rigid standards, while other trainers had explained that these mistakes were not significant, given that we are all still students. Malcolm made me feel as though I had done something very wrong, suggesting that I should have completed more hours before attempting the 2nd assessment. He stated that there was an 80% chance I would fail without booking in for extra hours, whereas both Panda and Kurt had told me I was fully ready. My main concern is that Malcolm's communication style was negative and frustrating. He continuously pointed out minor mistakes and emphasized that I needed more hours of training to avoid failure. He also appeared distracted, as he was checking his phone during my second training session. As an assessor, he needs to understand that mistakes are part of the learning process, and it is acceptable for students to make them. Instead of offering constructive feedback, he created unnecessary stress. For my second assessment, I requested Jessi as my assessor, and I passed without issue. I also inquired about the mistakes Malcolm had highlighted, and Jessi confirmed that he had not noticed them.

Negative experience: WARNING: This Truck School Is a Trap! Don’t Trust Their Reviews! The reviews can be fake or bought. You’ll end up paying double the price for terrible service. They’re not genuine—poor instructors, bad communication, and poorly maintained trucks make it impossible to succeed. Their goal is to make you fail, forcing you to buy extra hours while treating you with no respect. They demand full payment upfront and lure you in with low prices, but it’s all a bait-and-switch. I switched instructors and trucks, but nothing improved. I finally left, went to a better school, and got my license easily. Don’t fall for their trap—find a reputable school instead!

Please do your research on this SCAM company before booking.The Indian guy instructor don’t pay attention at all and all he does is yells and at the very end he goes “you need to book more hours” just for people to spend more money all over again.

Negative experience: Do not use this company. Earlier this year I paid around $3000.00 to learn, only to fail through no fault of my own. During my assessment, (which I had to sit around and wait almost two hours on a Saturday to do) the instructor was continually on his mobile (speaking in a language other than English). When I made a wrong turn and had to circle round, he was quite annoyed (more than expected..I was soon to find out why). Upon coming to the roundabout where Farrington Rd meets Aulberry Pde, an incident occurred in which cost me the assessment (up until this, I had only missed a gear which I caught both times, up a hill and at a stoplight). As I began approaching the give way line, there were no immediate vehicles to my right. However, as I began crossing the line, and began entering the roundabout, a black SUV which was parked 50 or 60 metres in the north bound side (but facing south) of Aulberry Pde pulled away from the curb, and quickly drove to the roundabout, barely paused at the give way line, then continued straight through towards me. I was driving a heavy rigid synchro mesh vehicle loaded with 9 tonnes. I was forced to stop, lest they hit me on the side, or worse, I hit them. Now, instead of turning west and heading towards the freeway, they did a complete roundabout and returned to drive north along Aulberry pde at speed. I present to the reader facts that make me conclude I was scammed out of a passing grade and my hard earned. I suggest you come to your own conclusions. 1. My assesor was speaking in a dialect of Northern India/or Pakistan while on the phone, instead of watching me. The establishment is run by (in the majority), a mixture of Northern Indians and Pakistani. 2. The driver and passenger of the vehicle that was driven so dangerously, were, in physical appearance, of Indian/Pakistani descent. 3. My assessor was quite irritated towards me for taking a wrong turn and having to circle the block (taking approximately 7 minutes to return to the intersection). He was irritated both in manner to me and on the phone... 4. The assessor insists he didn't see them come from nowhere, (though he should have been watching, as that roundabout only requires a driver to look right for vehicles when heading west) and he insisted it was my fault, despite him seeing me brake for them. 5. The black SUV, sped away from the south bound side of Aulberry Pde when I was approaching the roundabout. It then entered the roundabout as I had already passed my line. 6. The driver made eye contact with me, and instead of conceding right of way, he sped up, forcing me to hit the brakes (fortunately, with 9t on the back, and after having slowed down, I was at a snails pace). Furthermore, instead of heading west towards the freeway, he returned in the same direction he entered the roundabout from. They drove at speed away from the roundabout. I could hear the SUVs engine growling. Unfortunately, the cameras inside the vehicle only faced forward and towards me, not to the side, or towards the passenger. It would have cost me another $500.00 for an assessment alone... Draw your own conclusions...but I do not recommend this place for FIFO WORKERS, or anyone for that matter. Do yourself a favour, and go somewhere else. In response - So it is law that the assessor is not allowed to use a phone? Then why was the assessor on the phone almost the whole time EXCEPT AFTER THAT NEAR MISS?...and in that case, I would like my money returned...or, provide me with the assessment number so I may contact Licensing to prove my claim that he was on the phone. I bet you never submitted it, huh? Does it record audio....? Please excuse the drawings, they are only to provide reference to location and direction of vehicles, not for the W.A Art Gallery.

My instructor Malcolm is an amazing person, very calm and will give you clear instructions during your driving. He exactly know when you're nervous, insecure or doing some mistakes while driving but don't be because he will do everything to makesure you're ok. He's also a humours side so be prepared to have a bit of a laugh. Whole crew together with the admin Harman are one amazing team. I would recommend this business to anyone in a heartbeat. 10 out of 5
