Fantastic experience: I Passed my HR today and I want to say a big thank you to Emilie and Mili for their great work. such nice lady’s and Emilie took care of everything and managing to squeeze me in such short notice. My experience was absolutely fantastic with these legends, the instructors are very nice and patient, Specially (Dan) very knowledgeable and he actually teaches you everything how to pass your test God bless all the instructors and receptionist and wishing everyone a wonderful Christmas :)

Negative experience: Did the 3 day HR Synchro training last month which is 8 hours spread over 3 days. I felt the training my first 2 days ( 6 hours ) was pretty poor. My trainer was a nice guy but in my opinion wasn’t giving me much feedback as I was driving and not paying close attention, even watching live baseball on his phone at some points when it was my first time operating a heavy vehicle. At the time I thought the lack of feedback was a sign I was doing everything correctly until the third day I was given a different trainer who was great and pointed out a lot of little things I was doing wrong. I was told I wasn’t ready to take my test after failing my mock test pretty badly. I then paid for an additional 3 hours of training which I could only be fit in about 2 weeks later. The 3 hours of training was split between another two different trainers who were both great and taught me things I hadn’t been shown before previously. But I feel the poor training I received the first 6 hours of lessons held me back and resulted in me failing my driving test with Darko. I expressed I was unhappy with my first two days of training and I was offered free 2 hours of training and a test resit the next Monday which was very nice of them but I could not take work off for that day. Unfortunately my experience with them has left me $2450 out of pocket with no HR license

Fantastic experience: 10/10 After a rather unpleasant experience at a different company months ago it took me a while to build up the confidence to reassess for my HR-b license. My buddy recommended WRDT so I thought I’d give them a go, and to say I was happy with the outcome is an understatement. Everyone I dealt with was amazing from Emilie in the office, to my instructor Steven, to my assessor Marco. Calm, reassuring with clear and simple instructions. From start to finish the whole experience was first class. I will be recommending this company to everyone from now on.

Fantastic experience: Done both my open class HR and MC licenses with this crew, and it's been a great experience both times. The instructors really knew what they were doing had some solid training and made sure I was ready for the tests. The training was clear, practical, and to the point with some good laughs. If you're looking to get your license and want solid training, I'd definitely recommend this place.

Emilie in the office was very polite and calm throughout the process. Paul and Darko did my training and assessing, they were both extremely knowledgeable and patient. Because of their training I passed my assessment first go, despite the nerves. I would not hesitate to recommend these guys to anyone looking to get their licenses.

Fantastic experience: I had done all of 2 hours of manual driving prior to booking a 3 day training and assessment. Marko was excellent at assisting me to pass on my first attempt, which is a reflection on his ability to teach! Would highly recommend to anyone

Positive experience: If you choose this place, make sure that your instructor will not be STEVE. He is very unprofessional. He will scream at you if you do something wrong, and also he will be playing on his phone all the time. On the other hand, the instructor BARRY is a very wise man, full of knowledge.

Fantastic experience: My work booked the HR with these guys a few weeks ago for 3 days, not sure on how much it was. Was very nervous when I got there but Emilie in the office greeted me with a big smile and helped me with my paperwork. Met Barry who made the drive so chilled I forgot I was even nervous. He had great people skills and if I did anything wrong, he didn’t tell me off but suggest I could do it another way. We had a good chat while I did blockies of the area.. (which was a good place to train, busy at times, an industrial area to be able to do reversing with less traffic, also school zone and even an 80 section with lots of round abouts, a bit of everything to practice with) Anyways by the end he told me how good I did, which was so nice to hear as most transport license people only like to tell you the bad stuff you did. Next day I had Marco and he showed me a few new things and was nice. And the 3rd day I met Dan, who was great not only cause he passed me but cause he made it feel like a drive around the block with a friend, even though he was professional, I didn’t feel nervous or any pressure which was a breath of fresh air. Thank you again to all who helped me get my HR and I’ve already recommend you guys.

Negative experience: These guys are a joke! DO NOT waste your time and money! They will not teach you what you need to know for the assessment and fail you for slightest thing that they never teach you. Definitely find another company that values your driving needs and wants to get you to pass your test first go and not try to talk you down and destroy your confidence. This company is money hungry as you can tell by the state of their flogged out trucks they use to train you in and they just want you to keep coming back to spend another $500 each time they fail you in the assessment! Biggest mess around of my life and WASTE OF MONEY doing my hr license with these knobs.

Negative experience: Day 1 - The first trainer I got put through wasn’t very helpful nor was he clear about the information he was giving. Day 2 - The second trainer was very informative however neither trainer mentioned the gear box gets stuck in high range when coasting down a hill, therefore failing my test as it got stuck in high range and I having to reset it in the gear box. I was trying to get it sorted, then the instructor stood on the brake, stalling the truck. If I was made aware of the information about this truck the issues could have been avoided. Therefore I do not recommend. Will not be going back for my retest.

Fantastic experience: Western road train is a fantastic place to learn. They really care about your training. I did the 3 days HR synchro mesh training, and wasn't quite ready to take my assessment test after the 3 days, I had a few hiccups I needed to improve. I am a very nervous person. I have never driven a truck before in my life. They scheduled 2 more training sessions with me, and today I passed, I am so bloody happy, I am so wrapped, they def know if you are ready or not to take your test. All staff are fantastic, from reception to trainers to the assessment man. I highly recommend this place. Thanks again !! X

Negative experience: Here it's my July/23 MC training experience: If there's not truth, reply to Facebook. Barry was quite patient with the training ( cabin drill plus driving). Note: Please bear in mind, the key factor for training the (MC) students are: patience, passion & high mood ( particularly for the company's director: Dorco). As you could see it's multi-element practice which takes 2-3 hrs. As a previous army servant & student's private trainer; I'd highly recommend the above key factors for the institute's promotion. Because the student's success is hand in hand for the company's promotion. Secondly, the trainer could use whiteboard/paper ( even for 15 min) for the MC lessons such as: trailer positioning, turning axle (which no one demonstrated! 1st axle in last 3) for reversing: less of R-reflector means steering left and versus (not demonstrated!) Roundabout: Barry demonstrated well & effectively; however, Dorco added too much details on it (causes to distraction). After 2hrs complementary training Not test; Dorco replied: "Hes not safe enough; refund the test fee and leave the yard by reception". It doesn't seem as a respectful & courtesy manner toward +45 year built person!! ( broken deal after 12 hrs!). Though, the trailer L plated plus double brake. In my view, even the student is not skillful enough; the trainer should apply effective strategy and program to assist the student to overcome the challenge. Therefore, it's the poor attitude & poor training management. Like: prime mover + T1 pass to island 1, so, it's clear for T2 ( by check the turning to axle respectively) and so on. Finally, the attitude & communication are the key elements either for the trainer or trainee. (Both should be respectful toward personal & community values.) Unfortunately, Dorco is not patient enough with the training and the amount of money that students invest on this course.

Fantastic experience: Great place to learn. I recently completed my HR 3 day course and Den and Barry did a great job showing me everything pertaining to driving trucks. It was a lot to learn in 3 days since I'd never driven a truck before but they were patient with me, corrected and guided me all the way through and I'm forever grateful. When you go there to learn, please have a teachable spirit, relax and everything will flow. Emily was amazing too from the time you walk in. Highly recommend and will be going back to them for my MC license in the future.

Fantastic experience: I recently did my training / got my HR license through Western Roadtrain Driver Training via my employer. As a small female new to the industry it was all a bit intimidating but the professional, down-to-earth, and relatable manner of the admin team and driving instructors put me directly at ease. Everyone at the school went out of their way to make sure I was ready for the test before sitting it (so I passed first try), reassured me when I was lacking confidence, and made an effort to express things in a way my brain was best able to learn them. If you want to feel supported from start to finish while you learn as well as get your license feeling confident AND competent, I can highly recommend completing your training with the team at WRDT. I chose Western Roadtrain Driver Training wisely and I had a wonderful experience with the team from start to finish. Milly was friendly and helpful, Marko was relaxed and talkative and helped guide me through the first couple of days and Dan was calm and informative. I followed their guidance, put in the effort and learned from my mistakes which resulted in me passing my test first time around. If you're planning on doing truck driver training I'd recommend you look no further than here. I'll be returning in future for any further training and recommending them to family and friends. Fantastic experience: Just passed my MC course today in one try from HR and i can say they do a fantastic job at teaching and making you feel comfortable on lessons and the assessment, anyone looking at doing their MC here i would advise in my personal experience the 4 day course because i thought i knew enough from prior exsperience to be able to get this down packed quickly but still book 4 days regardless but was really happy i did the amount of checks that need to completely in a certain order by DOT standered is crazy on the 3rd day i was pretty much almost there and the 4th lesson/assessment near perfect and perfect for assessment, so if you're looking to pass in 1 go at any exsperience level i would suggest the 4 day course, anything less would be winging it and hoping for a pass, around 157 markable items (roughly) Goodluck to anyone upgrading their licenses Thank you Alan and to everyone els awesome work you all do

Fantastic experience: I chose Western Roadtrain firstly for the stunning customer service with Mili, she made me feel like nothing wasn't too much of a bother and she was able to fit me in for a 2hr Refresher lesson on a 18spd road ranger (hadn't been in one since 2008). Secondly (and more importantly) it's kinda like Forrest Gump with his box of chocolates...you never know what you're gonna get...and that would be the instructor I would be allocated. The instructor I was allocated was Lee. Lee is an amazing person with an equally amazing personality who has a calm, chill'd manner that made me feel comfortable enough to actively listen and visually understand what was required of me. His learning techniques were instantly 'light bulb moments' (and believe me, it takes me a long while to put em up) and I felt more excited and 'in the zone' to do my lesson with far less amount of internal stress. ...Thank you Lee, absolute pleasure to have met you

Fantastic experience: Just passed my HR synchro from the very first phone call I felt I had called the right place, Milli is lovely to deal with. Lee took me for my first two days and he just chats away with you making you feel really relax and comfortable in the truck even though it was my first time driving one, an absolute legend and then Dan took me on my final day I was real nervous and again Dan just helps calm you down. Can’t recommend these guys enough, what a group of great friendly people absolute legends thanks to Lee, Dan, Milli.

Fantastic experience: Highly recommended. Passed my HR - Synchro test today thanks to the team at western road train. I did the 3 day course, I had very minimal truck experience and had never driven with a synchromesh gearbox but thanks to Dan I managed to get the hang of it after my first day. I didnt pass my first assessment however Mili managed to book me another assessment the next day dispite how busy they were. Darko walked me through my mistakes and helped me fine tune my driving before taking me for my second assessment which I managed to pass.

Fantastic experience: I don’t normally write reviews but my experience with Western Road Train was so impressive I couldn’t not give this business the credit it so greatly deserves.If there was an option for 6 stars I would have awarded that. Also the reviews of their company is what convinced me to choose this school over many others. To give some context, after nearly 20 years in mining I wanted a change of career within the industry so I decided on a new adventure in transport. I have held an unrestricted HR for many years And have never driven a trailer bigger than my small 8x5 trailer. I was going for my MC License. My initial impression Was one of total professionalism and a real genuine care for the student. Booking my training and test was made so simple. I could tell the office staff were very well organised and extremely helpful. This was a great indicator for me that this was a school that knew how important being organised, professional and keeping things simple and effective was to their students success. Milli and Sam’s work in the office and their level of care for their students becomes so apparent with first contact with the school and it Carry’s on throughout the learner driver program. Thank you ladies. You are both absolute Gems and you should be proud of yourselves for how the business side of WTR is represented. I began my first two lessons with their Trainer Lee. Lee’s easy going but very thorough demeanour made me feel confident in the seat of the truck with what seemed to be a horizon of trailers behind it. He was cool, Calm and collected and that made me feel comfortable instantly. His many years of driving these Beasts of the highway is instantly apparent with how he explained the information to me and made It easy to understand. His patience with me when I made mistakes and explaining things to me again till I understood it and could demonstrate it makes the learning process so much more comfortable and builds your confidence. I spent the next two days with their other Trainer Alan. Like Lee, he too was an absolute gent. To see how much pride Alan took in his job, the cleanliness of the equipment and like the rest of the team his absolute genuine care for the students was instantly apparent. Alan also has had so much time driving in the transport industry what he doesn’t know about trucking is not worth knowing, All whilst being the most humble expert you’ll ever meet. Alan shared many tips and tricks with me that I’ll definitely apply once I’m out on the road. Thanks to the whole team and the way they seamlessly work together I achieved the outcome of attaining my MC Road Train Licence. To not seriously consider bringing yourself down to Western Road Train would be seriously doing a disservice to yourself. Do not underestimate how important having an experienced and professional driving school is to actually achieving this level of Licence. I cannot express my thanks and Gratitude to everyone from WTR that took a basic HR driver with no experience with trailers to a confident MC License holder. You are a shining light and most definitely a leader within the Heavy Vehicle Driver training industry and I wish you all the best for the future.

Our safety is at stake and they make sure you have the necessary skills to get on the road. Western Roadtrain genuinely want you to pass. Fantastic experience: I just Had a HR license with no trailer experience ever, (even no experience with car trailers). My trainer Rob really helped me out by making me understand things in a calm manner. Then on the day of my test I had another trainer called Darco, he fine tuned me to the test and what is expected out of me. I unfortunately failed one of the segments but passed the others,(I jumped the gun and dint specify one important aspect for coupling up) I took 1 more lesson the next day and just focused on that and I passed it the next day. I also want to say that Milli is very knowledgeable and explains things very clearly. I highly recommend this training institute.

Fantastic experience: This where you need to get your HR license. The staff are extremely welcoming, warm and smiling even as early as 6.50 am. I felt comfortable immediately. The two girls at the office are literally the most professional and caring people I have ever met in a driving school, ever! My driving instructor, Dan, was very patient with me and explained extremely well and in details everything that I had to know to pass my test. I felt comfortable driving this huge 18 speed semi truck and was well taught on how to use this machine. I was honestly impressed with the whole process. They do care about you from the moment you arrive to when you leave their yard. Amazing place and I will be back in a year for my MC license.

Josh was a brilliant trainer, coaching me on passing the test and also on plenty of other aspects of the industry that would be a benefit in day to day life truck driving. Fantastic experience: A huge thank you to the entire team at Western Roadtrain. I am a brand new truck operator so needed patience, support and guidance which I got from everyone. This includes Sarah in the office, and Mili the owner who successfully juggles the appointment book like a well oiled little machine. The assessors I had, Darko (owner) and Andrew who finally awarded my pass. They both provided invaluable feedback and information to keep myself and other road users safe!. Plus all the other instructors not directly involved in my training, but whom gave encouraging and supporting comments as they knew when I was being assessed. The knowledge is priceless and gives you a better understanding on trucks as well as improving your general car driving skills when approaching trucks on the road. Fantastic experience: Not a bad thing to say about the whole team from the very knowledgeable and patient lady's in the office, to the trainer's laughing, having fun on the top level of professionalism. Darco was my trainer and assessor very clear and clean instructions which helps when learning. They have the ability to adapt to your needs and way of learning, definitely out of the box thinkers, eg they have their own videos of prestarts with I wouldn't not of passed because I have learning difficulties reading from paper im a hands on learner and the video got me to where I needed to be overnight . Fantastic experience: I just wanted to leave some feedback on this place as the feedback on google had helped make my decision to use them for my HR syncro lessons and testing. I had initially looked at wider perth driving schools and this straight away had alot of good feedback by comparison to the other centres which had some bad feedback about being rude and uncaring. I decided to do a call around anyway and see if I could get a lesson/test within a week. The lady in the office had good customer service skills, she was listening to where I was at and made suggestions, when I said I was hoping for within a week she said they were booked out for 2 weeks but there was a guy who she was waiting to call in as he said he might get stuck on his mine site and not able to fly back, but as he paid she couldn't fit me in however she would call me either way once he confirmed. The other 4 places I contacted where as confirmed on some of the feedback very abrupt and had no customer service skills, I am guessing this is probably what they class as acceptable in their industry. I received a call not long after I had done a ring around by the lady at western roadtrain saying she was able to contact him and he can't get back so if I still want to go ahead they'd be happy to book me. I was a little bit shocked she actually got onto it so fast..or at all. A week later I turned up at the yard the trainers were walking around getting everything ready, they were all happy towards each other and greeted me which made for a good atmosphere for students who come in on their first day a bit nervous and uncertain. I had steve as my instructor he was polite and I could see that he was adjusting his communication as we got started ensuring that i was understanding. As panicked and stressed as I was on the first day driving a big truck with what seemed like a billion gears and wider than the lane itself, steve stayed calm and nudged me in the right direction. I liked the area where the test was done and seen parts of that area on the first day that I had never seen before. I passed on first round, however I was prepared to fail not through bad driving but no matter how good you do all it takes is 1/2 a second to make a silly mistake on one of the instant fails and it's game over. No need to beat yourself up or start blaming things just the way the dice rolls sometimes. All round if you were like me at the start unsure which centre to choose. As someone who has now had a start to finish with this company. I rate good customer service from the first point of contact. The route was pretty good (reduced stress). Being able to do your lessons and testing in one place streamlined process (reduced stress and time). Instructor was friendly and helpful (get support). This place puts effort into their company. I recommend this place. pro tip: - Day 1 you use up all your adrenaline being on high alert for 4 hours, go to bed early that night (don't drink). - Day 2 get up early in the morning and do some stretches and relax for test day. If you got plenty of sleep you brain will have had chance to level up overnight and you will be a completely different driver on day 2. - Take photo of the boards in the training room with the procedures and look at them on your phone before you start day 2 and again before your test.

Negative experience: They say two days training but it works out to be 6 hours of road time. That is by far nowhere near a full day. If you're not ready for the test they refuse to give you a refund which sucks. It's a money making scheme. One positive, Josh is a good trainer.

Fantastic experience: I chose this company based on the reviews on Google as I needed HR license. I am so glad I went to Western Road train Driver! The Instructors and the aministration are VERY COMPETENT, POLITE and RESPECTFUL. I strongly recommend this place that really exceed my expectations!

Fantastic experience: Applied for HR Road Ranger, initially didn't pass but returned for additional 2hrs for $280. Didn't mind paying extra as I agreed with the instructor that additional driving hours were required, especially when it comes to road safety. Anybody who complains about paying extra, should look at their driving ability, as opposed to how this company charges for instruction. My advice is to put some extra money aside, just in case.
