HART (Honda Australia Roadcraft Training)

Fantastic experience: I found the training to be excellent value. I am a fully licenced motor-bike rider who had not riden for a few decades. This was part of my personal safety strategy as I progress to buying & taking ownership of a new, mid-sized bike. The site is large with an impressive flat practice area & also an undulating road circuit. Thanks to Instructor Steven for his positive style & humour.

Fantastic experience: HART has been fantastic with their lessons and Safer Driver course for my son and his friend. They couldn't do enough to help and were always very accommodating and a pleasure to deal with. Fantastic experience: A few months ago, I had the pleasure of taking a private motorcycle skills lesson with HART St Ives, and I’ve been meaning to share my experience ever since. From start to finish, the service was exceptional. My initial contact was by phone with Lisa, who handled my inquiries and scheduling with incredible professionalism and warmth. Lisa’s personable approach to my enquires, patience, and willingness to accommodate changes in dates, made the booking process seamless and stress-free. The two-hour private lesson itself was with Dan, an outstanding instructor! Dan provided honest, constructive feedback and practical advice, that I have continued to apply on the road today. The skills I learned during that session (on a very real motor cycle track !) not only enhanced my confidence, but has also contributed to my safety as a rider, which I believe is paramount! Fantastic experience: What a great experience! Did the Offroad Tech course on Sunday with Steve as our Instructor and Juliet as his Assistant. Steve’s mastery of both bike riding and delivery of instruction is exceptional. Juliet in her support role was fantastic as well. She helped things run smoothly and took pictures and videos of all the riders on the day. The positive support for riders with less experience was both comforting and empowering. I cannot recommend HART highly enough. 5 star service

Fantastic experience: Great Course for new riders looking to start their off-road motorcycle development as much for those looking for a refresher of their own skills. What a Clinics are for Golfers it was for my riding experience. Instructors Steve and Juliet were extremely helpful in sharing their knowledge and experience with all and each of us attending. I have completed both Of their courses, Adventure and Off-Road during the last years and 100% satisfy with the results.

Fantastic experience: I did a couple of 1-on-1 sessions at HART prior to my pre-learners (as I had zero experience with riding a motorcycle). Doing these sessions helped me immensely as I was prepared and knew what to expect. I would highly recommend HART to anyone who's wanting to do their pre-learners: do a session or two with HART so you're fully prepared. The instructors (Steve and John) were fantastic and clearly explained the ins and outs to me. I couldn't receommend HART highly enough. The entire process of making a booking was also great with HART staff (Lisa) being very helpful and informative.

Fantastic experience: I had a 1 on 1 lesson with John, he is a fantastic instructor and a very kind person, he never became frustrated, took me through all the basics, but pushed me to try a couple more challenging skills. I was initially super nervous about riding, and after only an hour, I am much more confident in my abilities. The facilities at HART are fantastic, and I would highly recommend a private or group lesson to any beginner who needs to gain skill and confidence on two wheels.

Fantastic experience: Over a 6 month period of private lessons with John @HART training was an experience worth every second! John, was an absolute gem. He managed to make even the most complex concepts feel like a stroll in the park! The team in the office always greet you with a smile, and are happy to accommodate any last minute changes. HART is the place to be if you are learning or want to gain better skills as a rider/driver.

Fantastic experience: I attended the Road Tek 1 course at HART and also had a 1-1 Private lesson with John. John is a friendly instructor who knows his bikes well. In a group of learners, he taught us valuable techniques on cornering, uphill starts and slow riding. I liked his private lesson as well as he let me tell him what I would like to focus on. He made me perform hill starts and slow rides to a point where I become reasonably comfortable with those manners. Thanks to his lessons, I was able to ride my brand new bike home from the dealership this morning. I never thought I would pull through this without a few stalls but I did it. Thanks John and HART for installing the confidence in me. I wish John the very best and will certainly come back for more lessons at HART.

Fantastic experience: I had done RoadTech 1 & 2 those two courses were exceptional. In addition I had a private lesson to undertake the MOST test. I cannot recommend Harts enough from the friendly administration staff to the instructor. John provided me again with the confidence to go back to the motorbike and does take his time to look into what you are doing and help you to masters the skills needed to be a safe raider! The facilities are outstanding, the motorbikes impeccable! I highly recommended Harts you won’t be disappointed!

Fantastic experience: I did the RoadTech 3 course with John last weekend. I wasn't sure how much I would learn, but John completely changed the way I corner, taught me how to handle my heavy BMW adventure bike easily at low speed, and gave me some practice at emergency stops. Plus a thousand little tips along the way (turn your bike off with the key, leave your helmet on the ground etc). John has so much experience, and delivers training and feedback in a practical, easy to understand way. I'll be back for RoadTech 4 and the offroad courses as soon as I can. Thanks John and thanks HART!

Fantastic experience: Did Road Tech 3 with John as a returning rider wanting to brush up on road skills. Fantastic experience: I could not recommend HART St Ives highly enough! All staff there are so helpful, encouraging and professional. John is an amazing trainer and the office team (Lisa and Rebecca) are so accommodating and lovely - I feel like part of the family! I am a mature, female learner who is quite anxious, and I have had quite a stressful time becoming a licensed rider. The companies who have licensing contracts with Transport NSW are hit and miss as to whether you get a good trainer/assessor or one who isn’t that great. Unfortunately I had my fair share of the latter……. HART really helped not only teaching me all the fundamentals of riding, but also building my confidence as a learner rider. I participated in both private lessons and group lessons with their RoadTech 1 + 2 classes and highly recommended both! Private lessons allowed me to focus on the areas I needed as an individual and were absolutely invaluable. I am really pleased to have now passed my P’s and am grateful to my riding network who recommended HART to me. I still plan to do the RoadTech 3 + 4 courses as the more you learn and develop, the safer your riding experience will be. I also know where I will be taking my sons when it is time for them to learn to ride also. A big thank you to everyone at HART, I couldn’t have done it without you all!!!! Fantastic experience: Well known for its rider training HART is exceptional for driver training as well, my daughter had been driving for a while and just wasn't quite ready for the L's to P's test. We booked her in for a couple of lessons with HART & straight away we could see the difference, she just lifted, full of confidence, more re-assured with her skill set, focused & yes she passed. Communication was great, all the team at HART worked together to make sure they were available on the day of her test. The instructor (John) and track were great, really helped me gain confidence and develop skills for the P test. So much so I booked in for private lesson to practice, practice, practice the test again!

Fantastic experience: I am a new rider and an older one. I passed my test a couple of years ago and have been to HART to brush up on my skills with a couple of private lessons as well as Road Tech 4. The facility, staff, instruction and feedback have been brilliant. They have made me feel like one of the family. I plan to go back every 6 months as there will always be something to get better at. My confidence and safety has improved and I recommend HART to all riders who want to get there.

Fantastic experience: I did the road tech 3 course with John on the weekend. I came back to riding a couple years ago and the day with John showed me my bad habits and how to improve my safety while riding. It was also a fun day. The course was recommended to me by some good riders and they were right, it was worth it.

Fantastic experience: Well worth the time and money! Small group - all of us given 1:1 help according to our level. John was extremely capable, patient and knowledgeable. And very kind when I turned up late and in need of an air compressor! I saw an immediate improvement in my riding and took away a lot of great information on everything to do with bikes. I"ve had a previous 1:1 lesson that was invaluable, too. Lisa was extremely helpful with booking and pre-course support. I'm very much looking forward to doing the next level.

Fantastic experience: Update : 29th July 2024 Today, I finally got my P1 licence, and I would like to thank HART and John for the amazing professional training I have had. After I got my L licence , I continued my training journey with HART. I had RoadTech 1 and RoadTech 2 courses with John. Also, I had a private lesson before my P's test as I was really nervous. John has been really amazing in training me to ride safely, building up my confidence. I couldn't have done it without you. Definitely will be back for more training. I would love to give you 10 stars. If you are looking for professional riding training and very experienced instructors, HART is definitely the go-to. ----‐------- I had the most amazing experience with HART. I have never been on a motorbike before, I had the pre learners course at stay upright. It's not really a course. It's more of a test. Anyway, I didn't pass the first day, and I had a remedial. I passed that, but then I didn't pass the second day. Only after 10 minutes they kicked me out. Then I went to HART and took private lessons with John. He was really amazing and patient and gave me a lot of confidence. Thank you, HART, for helping me start my motorbike journey, I will be forever grateful.

Fantastic experience: I just completed the Roadmaster course at HART. Even after over 30 years of riding experience I was taught a lot more about riding than what I thought I already knew. John, the instructor was extremely helpful & very knowledgeable. In the 4 hour course, I broke bad habits that hindered my ability to be a better rider. Fantastic experience: Very worthwhile and came away with some new learning on how to improve my riding and stay safer on the bike. Pace of course is spot on and the instructor (John) was professional and informative. I completed my Learner Rider Licence and MOST 17 years ago and an up skills course some 12 years ago and more recently a one to one in December 2023 and yesterday, February 2024, the Road Master's course. Some years ago, I also paid and booked my husband and sons in on the off road Dirt bike course, for a Christmas present , which they loved immensely. Thank you for providing an excellent facility with excellent staff.

Fantastic experience: I belong to the Hills Ulysses Club and a few of us went along for a day’s upskilling and refresher course yesterday. John was our instructor and he was very organised and skilful at riding and demonstrating, having ridden himself for many years. He gave us many examples and spoke to us about ways of doing things better. The videos were particularly useful. An excellent technical course to ride on. Thank you John and Harts for providing the training and venue. Something for all experienced riders to do, so that bad habits don’t creep in. Well done.

Fantastic experience: I had the good sense to book and participate in the HARTS RT3 handling dynamics training course. I learnt skills to improve by cornering, braking and slow speed maneuvering. The instructor John was excellent with clear instructions and reasons for each skill practiced, and provided concise feedback as I progressed and ensured I understood. I think this course is a must for all but the most skilled road motorcycle riders. A great investment. Thanks John & the HART Team.

Fantastic experience: Amazing facility and courses. John was our instructor and is excellent. My wife and I have been doing the 1:1 lessons to work on building our skills and confidence on motorbikes and I've been to a few of their roadtech courses which I've been making my way through. Great tracks that are safe and well setup to work on everything (cornering, braking, foundational techniques, slow speed maneuvering, throttle control etc). Cleaning up a lot of bad habits as I've been riding for a while without proper training.

Fantastic experience: I completed rider 1 course at Hart with John. After completing my learners I didn’t have the confidence to ride on main roads and felt I wasn’t progressing as I was too scared to venture beyond riding around the neighbourhood In 40 zones. After a 3 hour group course with John I really honed in on my skills and gave him the task of giving me the confidence to ride my bike home. He was patient, clear in his instruction and I achieved everything I was hoping to. After completing the course I confidently drove home on a busy road up to 80km, changing lanes and actually enjoying myself! Thank you Hart! I will be back for the pre Ps test to further improve my cornering, uturns and traffic intersections.

Negative experience: I booked per learner course for motor bike and I went to learn the bike course but instructor was very rude to … I don’t why he told me left the field middle of training .. I used to ride motorbike in my country and at the end of the I asked for refund but I never got refund Please guys stop send me your offer in my email Thank you

Fantastic experience: I loved my private motorcycle lesson at Hart St Ives so much I have booked another two! My instructor was very patient and knowledgeable and I left feeling much more confident than when I arrived. The private road course is fantastic to learn on - it gives you a chance to drive on the road and learn road conditions without the distraction of other vehicles. This is not just riding around a carpark, this course is real-life. I would recommend Hart St Ives to anyone looking to feel more confident before they get out on the Sydney roads on a motorcycle! Update: Thanks to HART and my instructor John, I now have my Ps and I got 100% in the test. I'm so grateful doing my journey with HART and John, who showed nothing but care and professionalism throughout my entire year-long trip from Ls to Ps!

Positive experience: Even though all the staff have been incredibly helpful and friendly, my experience of doing the pre-learner riders course with John was so traumatic. I'd never ridden a motorcycle before and I was kicked off after dropping the bike once during the partner push activity. I was then offered a remedial lesson which was great, but when I couldn't balance the bike and get it running in a straight line, I asked John "what am I doing wrong" and he said "I don't know, just ride straight". That was SO not helpful. My second remedial was with Greg, and that was so much better. He actually explained the technique and when I went back to redo the pre-learner riders course, I specifically asked for Greg and the instructions were read at the start of the lesson that you'll be kicked off the course if you dropped the bike TWICE when engine isn't on. I just thought it was an incredibly unfair first lesson and remedial lesson with the first instructor. I ended up paying for private lessons OUTSIDE of Hart and learnt proper techniques, etc. and I just earned my P plate from Stay Upright within 3 months. Students can't thrive if you don't give them a chance or teach them properly. It was a disappointing experience for what should have been an exciting learning journey.

Fantastic experience: Did my motorcycle L's recently with Dave. Excellent experience, well explained and lot's of driving practice on the course. Shame that Transport NSW has not extended the licence and the closest test center for my P1 course / test is now in Botany. There is nothing else anymore on the north side for Sydney for L's and P1.

Fantastic experience: Huge thanks to Peter G. Peter went above and beyond for the whole class, went in-depth regarding safety, exceptional communication skills, making the process super fun and still keeping it very professional! The facility is exceptional, very clean and great equipment! However, in my opinion, the staff are the biggest contributors to satisfaction and the success of any organisation… the bar has been set incredibly high with Peter on the team! Well done!

Negative experience: Pre-learner Rider Trainer is not always that great if you have "no previous motorcycle riding experience" Theory was fine but I couldn't do one of the first practical lessons - balancing on the motorbike, so instructor took me out of the lesson and told me I had to do remedial lessons, it's a maximum of 3 1-2hr lessons, 2 of them free which is nice. problem is they all have to be done on separate days and I have to start within 7 days!? I wasn't aware of this and it isn't great cause I live very far from St Ives. They don't allow partial refund after I only attended for an hr. Only recommend if you live at a reasonable distance, don't mind going there 5 times and are able to ride a bicycle. Though valuable things I did learn was the importance of wearing a Australian standard helmet, gloves, mounting/dismounting, and scanning the areas. I was mistakenly under the impression I could learn everything without having ridden a bike before and could practice on this course and once I got my license, I was wrong but I wish info on what to expect was more clear on the website. In terms of customer service my instructor moved a little to fast for me, he didn't explain how to shift gears and never slowed down to ask if there was any questions and give a little one-on-one if I was behind or confused on what was said, there was only 4-5 of us. Then when I gave a phone call the woman at the office seemed impatient and cut me off at times and showed a lack of sympathy when I tried to explain my unfortunate situation. When But when I was in the office in person and during the course everything else was cool and fine.

Positive experience: Great place, enjoyed my learners course, but they gave no help with going for my MOST, I highly reccomend you use a bike similar to their rentals as otherwise the MOST is almost impossible, which I learned trying to do it on a sportsbike.

Fantastic experience: A great place to learn how to ride a motorbike. The environment is massive and safe. I had my pre-learners course recently and my instructor (Soonami) was very friendly and experienced. I do recommend this place and course if you want to ride a motorbike.

Fantastic experience: Hi my experience today was very exciting and cool as I was nervous at the time I start but one of the instructor name Daniel make me feel comfortable to ride and he is the the best instructor I ever felt he has a common sense that how to guide and teach and make students feel to ride more and I love this place he is very calm and cool instructor.

Fantastic experience: If your looking for a comprehensive motorcycle course, this is the class. The skills taught are nicely paced throughout the two days going from the basics to more advanced. Shoutout to instructors Tim and Lorenzo, they both have a lot expertise and passion for riding and it really shines through in their teaching style, which is both engaging and fun. I would highly recommend this course to anyone who wants to learn to ride a motorcycle or scooter.

Fantastic experience: I've just completed my 2 half-day Pre-learner course with Brad. Chatting to the other learners, we wondered why there was a month long waiting period to get booked in but I can see why. It's a really excellent set up they have and there are only about max 6 or so learners in any one class, so really personal instruction. Brad was extremely friendly, knowledgeable and had a really good instructing and feedback style giving confidence to us each but also making it extremely fun. Thanks mate - keep up the good work!

Fantastic experience: **STOP PRESS-Update** What can I say? Completed RT 4 now, and again the course was superb. Johns experience, calmness and kindness made the day whizz by. It was a pleasure again to attend and the skills learned will once again improve my riding to the next level. The course uses the whole circuit and is demanding yet fun, giving you the opportunity to practice all aspects of advanced Handling Dynamics. Thanks again John you are a dead set legend ! :-) completed Road tech 3 with John Davies on 26 March and it was a revelation. Three and a half hours of excellent instruction past in no time and the road practice we undertook has totally changed my riding style, making me a safer more confident rider. John was superb showing us new techniques for safer and smoother cornering, smoother and safer braking and top tips for slow riding. His individual feedback was invaluable and the whole group agreed it was a superb half day. Thank you, HART, and thank you John you are a legend. I honestly cant wait for RoadTech 4. Rolf, Mark, Tracey and the Adventure bike boys see you all there for what I'm sure will be another superb day!

Fantastic experience: I did both a riders confidence course and my P test here. Both were great experiences here with no issues with the service provided. The instructors were helpful, and provided tips for individuals to pass the test after the course run through. You won't regret coming here to do your P test

Positive experience: We were 6 people in the class and half of us failed MOST. I don't think we are all bad riders. This tells me that there is a big room for improvement...

Fantastic experience: This is THE place in Sydney to do your motorbike training. I got the recommendation from a friend and it did not disappoint! I did both my Ls and Ps courses here, and the instructors are knowledgeable and focused on ensuring that you have the skills to be a safe driver. You don't need to own a Honda to take the classes. It is a bit out of the way, but I mean, do you expect to find private, multi-km driving tracks in the CBD? Book your courses online and in advance as they do fill up.

Fantastic experience: I don't often write reviews, but I have done several motorcycle courses with HART and feel very happy to write one. Good things shall be known. As a rider/driver training school, it has mostly excellent instructors, helpful reception staff, specially designed ranges and a well-maintained motorcycle fleet. Special mentions go to Tim and Glenn. After several motorcycle courses, I still learnt some things from Tim at a RoadTech 2 course last weekend. His instructions were very accurate, his teaching approach flexible, fun and encouraging, and his understanding very broad and deep. Some of his tips were so concise that I can take them with me on a bike ride in my pocket. These make him an outstanding instructor. Glenn was also highly experienced and shared some similar features in his teaching and understanding.

Fantastic experience: Did my prelearners with Karl who was funny, knowledgeable and patient. If you are kicked out of the lesson for crashing they offer one on one lessons to help you gain your certificate which i know some other places don't offer.

Fantastic experience: Honda HART, particularly the St Ives team are absolutely amazing. The great experience started when Emily from reception contacted me(she reached out to me to make sure I haven't accidentally booked the incorrect location in NSW as my residential address is in Victoria). She helped me book a longer private class so I could get the most of my experience. John and Dave were both amazing instructors and then to top it all off I got a special deal on a Road Tech 1 course and had the hilarious Tim (senior instructor) lead our session. It was such a fun and educational way to enjoy my Saturday morning and learn more about being a safe and competent rider. Thank you so much HART Team!!

Fantastic experience: I just completed a motorcycle course with Harts as a pre-condition of employment with a new employer. Tim was our instructor. I have to say this organisation is very professionally run, the facilities are perfect, the tuition provided by Tim was on point. His experience, attitude and training approach made this a wonderful experience, to the point where I would like to return and do an off-road bike course. Fantastic experience: Did a pre-learner course with my son. Great experience and Kat our instructor was brilliant: enthusiastic, knowledgeable and clear in her instructing with the perfect blend of seriousness and humour.

Fantastic experience: Had 2 private motorcycle lessons here and had sooooo much fun but also learned a lot at the same time. My instructor Kat was just lovely and had the perfect temperament for a teacher. She was patient and kind, as well as very knowledgeable and professional. Will be returning for more rider training when it’s time for my p plates.

Fantastic experience: Went through the P's course today with 4 others under the tuition of Dan. Now, at my age I don't get out much (54) but with that in mind it was the most fun I have had in ages thanks to a great trainer and a great bunch of blokes. Firstly, Dan was great. Patient, knowledgeable and he made the course work interesting (which can be hard with a serious topic that can be repetitive). Secondly, the facilities at the Mona Vale were very good (unlike the car-park at LOFTUS where I did my L's). Finally, I lucked a very good bunch of guys who were at my level or above and we supported each other throughout. Thanks, Andrew

Fantastic experience: What a great place! I recently took the Adventure Bike Tech Skills course, and could not be happier. - Well prepared training exercises; - Friendly and experienced instructors; - Great facilities with plenty of space to practice and learn in one’s own pace; - Tailored feedback for each course participant. I arrived in the morning with great apprehension for going off-road, and left in the afternoon a completely different rider. I’m no longer afraid of gravel roads! (But now know to stay well clear of sand and mud.) Highly recommended for anyone on a heavier bike wanting to continue riding once the tarmac ends and the gravel / fire trails begin.

Negative experience: A lot of qualities that make a great teacher were not present on my learner test days. Lack of patience, understanding, and help are examples. Knowledge & social skills go hand in hand.
