Fantastic experience: Took my first driving test in Victoria yesterday, and thought it'd be best to book an instructor to cover everything about the test. I have a 2 years overseas driving experience so I wasn't an amateur at all. But obviously, driving rules are different from country to country, especially for Australia. Many of the test sections involves your awareness, sharpness, and ability to assess critically while driving. And this is what I was taught by my driving instructor, Elias Track. He started with some pre-checks on my knowledge and the basic controls of his car, just to get an understanding. He explained everything very carefully and thoroughly from the beginning, which left a good first impression to me. Throughout the practice, he was also very critical and paid much attention on the way I drive, making sure that no mistakes are made. Advised me on some tips while parking with his car, helping me to get a feel for the car's dimension and making parallel parks and 3-point turns really easy to do. Passed the driving test on 1st attempt! 10/10

Fantastic experience: I started lessons with Gary this year and I could not fault him. I was a very anxious driver and in the course of a couple months getting lessons with Gary I was able to get my Ps. What was great was Gary was super patient and calm, always reassured me if I got scared of something. He always provided tips and let me structure the lessons if i didnt feel confident doing certain manoeuvres or driving in certain areas. Highly recommend Gary if you're looking to get your license!

Fantastic experience: I urgently needed to convert my overseas licence to Victoria within the week, so I contacted Alex driving and the staff advised me which day and time to book while on the call and booked appropriate amount of lessons for me. The instructor, Kevin, was also extremely helpful. Kevin gave detailed instructions on what to do in each scenario and he was very patient. He remembered the areas I made mistake and made revisions for those. His overall revision before the driving test was extremely helpful as well.

Negative experience: I am an international student trying to convert her overseas license to an Australian one and I thought Alex Driving Academy would help me out. I took a three-lesson package with test because I have more than 10 years of driving experience and I did not need to learn how to drive but how to pass the driving test. My driving teacher was good, patient and kind but had no idea how to teach how to pass all the aspects of the driving test. He focused on certain things of the test but apparently the test is hard and not all aspects were covered and emphasized. I had three enjoyable lessons but when my test came, and I did not pass. After the test he mentioned all my mistakes, but I was disappointed. Why did he not mention all this beforehand? I would have easily corrected them. I was following all the things he taught me. This was not his fault of course; this was about who hired him and how they teach their instructors. I contacted Alex Driving Academy, and explained this, and wanted a compensation (extra class, discount, at least an apology anything) and I was surprised. They just pointed out that I should have known all of this, and it was basically not my teacher’s fault. Why then did I hire a driving teacher? They are a hiring car service with average people trying to make a living, not a responsible driving academy. Take in account all this before you hire their services and good luck.

Negative experience: WORST INSTRUCTOR - BHAGYA LAKSHMI. I bought a 3 lesson package for my daughter for preparation for her driving test. I requested my first lesson to be at 7:30am (before school). We were matched with instructor Bhagya Lakshmi who ended up wasting our time and money. When I called her to set up the appointments she said she couldn't do as early as 7:30 so we accommodated for her availability. She was a no show for the first appointment and we had to wait for an hour. Second appointment she was 20 mins late and because I complained, she was really petty on the lesson with my daughter and didn't provide any feedback. I ended up getting a refund for the 3rd lesson because I did not want to waste any more time with a petty, unreliable, unprofessional person of very low emotional intelligence.

Fantastic experience: I passed my driving test, thanks to my instructor Kevin. He was very patient and kind. He was always willing to answer my questions, no matter how many times I asked them. This made me feel at ease during our lessons and helped me grasp the concepts better. I have busy schedules during week and even weeks but Kevin managed to accommodate my schedule. Fantastic experience: I finally passed my drive test thanks to Tony. I’ve always had issues with being anxious while driving and failed twice in the past. However, that changed when I had Tony as a drive instructor. He was incredibly patient, encouraging and gave clear instructions during our lessons. Aside from that, he can pinpoint your areas of weakness with ease and help you fix them quickly. Over time, I relaxed, made less mistakes and passed.

Fantastic experience: I did my drivers test in Vicroads Carlton and I have my license now! I would like to thank my instructors, Kevin and Michael, for teaching me all the things I needed to know for driving. The following paragraphs will be my reviews for the instructors. Neither of them are bad. Both of them are pretty great and each of them has their own strong suit as an instructor. For Kevin, he is a great instructor especially if you are a beginner that is ESPECIALLY strict when it comes to road rules. He gives scenarios (complete with diagrams that he draws while you guys are parked) that is very much applicable in real life driving. He helps you understand the rules theory-wise BEFORE you apply them in practice and lets you asks dozens and dozens of questions and replies with straightforward answers if you need it. He may seem pretty uptight at first, which had taken me a while of getting used to, but once you've had a couple of lessons with him, the more you realise that his strictness is for your own good. For Michael, he is the perfect instructor for people who are easily scared on the road. I am easily scared driving around the city, but he was able to calm me down minutes before the test. He has the effortlessly chill demeanour and a calm voice that makes you let go of your fear, which allows you to drive confidently and safely. He is a more practical and hands on person that believes in experience is the best teacher and he just automatically knows when to clarify his points without you even asking. To make things even better, he makes you feel like you are driving with a knowledgable friend that gives you room to grow and learn along the way. He knows how to point out your mistakes without making you feel bad about yourself and guide you towards the right direction without breaking your confidence. To me, that is one important skill that is difficult to acquire as an instructor and Michael has it. My experience with both of them was great. Despite of their differences as instructors, I cannot deny that both of them greatly helped me get my Ps and build up my confidence in driving. I will definitely recommend either of them, depending on what environment you want to be in and the method of learning to want to take. Lastly, Thank you to Alex Driving School for connecting me to these two instructors. Transactions with them are pretty seamless and straightforward. Yippee!

Michael is also wonderful driving instructor that assisted me in successfully passing the test. He is very calm and gives great advice. I highly recommend both instructors!
