DriveRider Motorcycle Repair & Service: Reviews
Fantastic experience: Good service and very reliable and skillfull mechanic. They also offer great rider training lessons too from very experienced instructor.
Fantastic experience: Had 2 of my bikes serviced and overhauled. Very knowledgeable and helpful recommended.
Negative experience: Booked my bike in for a simple service. When he found other issues contacted me prior to making repairs. When I asked how long it would take he never gave me any information or details. When I then told him to go ahead with just the simple service and I’ll do the repairs later, started making threats that I would be riding an “unroadworthy” bike. When I paid him and went to take the bike he then threatened to call police and report me for riding an unroadworthy bike. He clearly has a lot of knowledge about bikes and being a mechanic, but obviously he’s spent too much time around machines and forgotten how to behave in civilised society. If there was an option for zero stars or negatives I would’ve selected those.
Fantastic experience: I am new too Driverider and have been looking for a smaller workshop since my old shop got much bigger and services got poor. Had a few issues with my bike that got sorted, bike runs like a dream now
Fantastic experience: Great service at a reasonable price. This motorcycle mechanic knows his stuff and has a rare insight into how to repair and service motorcycles. Not just a parts changer.
Fantastic experience: Took my Suzuki for a service. Good service and reasonable price .He noticed a few little things that needed fixing I hadn’t noticed and messaged me to check it was ok to fix them. Happy to be back on the road again knowing bike is safe.
Fantastic experience: Thanks for your time Jamie and sharing your knowledge. I appreciate it.
Negative experience: Come on Jamie please. $7.50?!!!!!
Negative experience: Should have realised Jamie wasn’t the guy for it upon meeting him the first time. Rude and arrogant and charges for consumables he doesn't use and charges me for telling me what I told him at the beginning at bout my bike. Wouldn’t recommend this “mechanic” to anybody.
Fantastic experience: After taking in my street 500 for a service, Jamie discovered an issue that had been missed in prior services with other dealers, Jamie explained and demonstrated the issue before repairing, and the difference was immediately noticeable the second I rode the bike home. Would recommend if you’re looking for fairly priced maintenance by someone with evident experience.
Fantastic experience: Jamie, was excellent in looking after my old 2007 DRZ 400. His attention to detail and knowledge of the bike ensured that I was able to get all the issues sorted out. He provided several recommendations that resulted in avoiding unnecessary repairs. I will be taking my bike back to Jamie knowing that my bike is going to be looked after… Thanks Jamie I appreciate the great work and advice.
Negative experience: Take more charge doing nothing
Negative experience: i took my suzuki ltr 450 quad to jamie at driverider motorcycles because my bike was making a knocking noice it still started up and ran then he stripped the motor told me what was wrong with it then couldnt put it back together the way i brought it to him and he said its gonna cost me more money i dont recommend him to anyone he obviously doesnt know how to do the timing !and needs a engineer ! u should stick to your riding lessons
Fantastic experience: I found Jamie and DriveRider for visual inspections and my first minor service on my Honda 2011 CBR250R. Once you find a reliable mechanic you can trust with reasonable pricing, hang on to them! Not only did he service and inspects bikes for me but as a new rider looking to build my skills and roadcraft Jamie gave some good advice and helped me understand my bike and what to look out for. Will definitely be back mate, thankyou my bike is riding noticeably better
Thanks Dylan, glad to be of help again.
Fantastic experience: A great trainer, patient and calm. Explains things in a way that is easily understood and provides a good balance of correction and encouragement.
Thanks Rob, good working with you.
Fantastic experience: Jamie provides an excellent motor cycle service, with the addition of having excellent advice for any new or experienced driver alike. He went above and beyond with his inspection and service of my R3.
Thanks for that Jovy, good to meet you
Fantastic experience: I am very happy with the service and experience I had with DriveRider Motorcycles. I will be back thank you.
Thanks Keelan, good to meet you
Fantastic experience: Picked up a 20 litre drum of oil and oil filter. Nice price thanks! Close and handy.
Fantastic experience: Jamie's training has made me a safer calmer and more relaxed rider. His attention to detail and insight is remarkable. Highly recommend his services. Mike Hamel-Smith
Thanks Mike, it was a pleasure working with you.
Fantastic experience: Great motorcycle rider training! Highly recommended. I also had my motorbike serviced which was really convenient and received some helpful advice.
Well done Kristina with your motorbike training.
Fantastic experience: The service that was provided, was of the most professional standards. From the communication, the work done and the care of my bike. Highly recommended.
Thanks Grant, another successful job - enjoy the ride
Fantastic experience: Had my bike serviced at DriveRider's Malaga Workshop and it is running perfectly. It was done on time and friendly service. Thanks.
Thanks Kaz!
Fantastic experience: Excellent service carried out on my Suzuki. As my bike was not running at the time the service offered to collect and transport the bike at no extra cost meant I didn’t have to go to the hassle of hiring a trailer. All work completed was of a high standard and thoroughly explained before being carried out. Everything was up and running just like new and I was able to pass pit inspection with no dramas so I could reregister my bike. Would highly recommend and will return again for my next service.
Fantastic experience: I was fortunate enough to have my Daytona 600 worked on by this A1 bike mechanic. I couldn't get it started with the ignition switch. He located the problem and resolved it. He also done an excellent job at servicing my bike and installing a new front tyre and new starter motor. I definitely recommend this 5* service.
Fantastic experience: Jamie, has great professionalism, skills and care, the effort that he went to, get my old Kawasaki ER5 back on the road for me was amazing. Top marks , I cannot say enough about how happy I am.
Fantastic experience: Jamie just finished servicing my Ninja. I have to say that I am always impressed by the level of care and professionalism he shows. He takes the time to explain what needs doing and why. This information has helped me understand my bike (and my riding style) better. The bike came back performing so much better even though it was running pretty well before the service. I recommend anyone who needs any work done on their bike to check Jamie out.... You won't be disappointed.
Fantastic experience: Jamie has been my regular mechanic for near a year. Ive always found his prices competitive and he is very informative. He has never undertaken anywork without discussing it first and has even demonstrated areas of wear so i can better understand how my bike operates to become a better rider.
Negative experience: Went for a two hour lesson and found that even though I been riding for sometime with other people I was treated like a baby didn't leave the car park for the whole two hours and the time wasted on how the bike works I feel that more time riding the bike on the road and going through what is needed to pass a test would be better in my eyes time wasted and money won't be going back found another instructor
Fantastic experience: Was great to work with and I was able to get his license quickly and easily. would work go through them again to get my unrestricted license.
Negative experience: 0.5 stars. I could not agree with Luke anymore. I feel he has written an accurate and honest review and I can confirm that after spending nearly $700.00 on lessons I feel I have wasted my money. It is my fault as I wanted to choose an instructor close to home, however the schools in Midland are far superior. Far too much time was wasted on perfection, and not having communications devices in the helmets simply added to time wasted.
Negative experience: I started off with 5 double lessons (1 per day). The trainer is so focused on control and getting it perfect we didn't move on for 3 days (6hrs)! By the time we got around to the other skills he refused to take me on my test and it was too late to cancel so that cost me more money (after we had agreed to make the decision with enough time to make a change to the test)! The reason I wasn't advancing was definitely the method of teaching, focusing on every error you make without much acknowledgment of the things you are doing right and it made the whole thing stressful and not fun - Meaning that many mistakes were made due to overthinking and stressing about what he was going to say. He also got you to do things like using your feet for turning around and riding on paths but then saying "oh but you can't do that in your test" which is ridiculous to teach to a learner. He doesn't use communication systems and his directions were always over complicated. His reasoning was in the real world we don't have someone telling us where to go which is total bs! Most people I know who ride either know where they are going or have a Bluetooth system hooked up to their phone for navigation, this is the 21st century is it not? If I hadn't had experience with the communication system that would be another thing to try and get used to during the test since they use them! Also because you couldn't talk and ride, much time was wasted with him getting off the bike to explain instructions or call you out on mistakes made. I believe the real reasoning is he is just too cheap to upgrade. His bike was definitely showing its age of 8 years old making selecting gears on the down shift difficult and clutch control more difficult than needed. I went on to another trainer at joondalup motorcycle training where in the first single lesson we covered everything and the bike was perfect and stress was 0. Communication system was amazing and for many who aren't good with directions it is a godsend! At first I was angry when he cancelled on me for the test and was going to write a scathing review, but I gave it 3 weeks and tried someone else so I could write a truly honest review and so I could be confident my riding wasn't as bad as he made it out to be and I was right it all came down to the extra stress he put on you with his methods.
