Fantastic experience: I did my NSW pre-provisional training and MOST test with Jean-Alexandre (Ted) Cape of Stay Upright Botany. I highly recommend Ted to anyone looking to improve their riding, their bike skills or wanting to stay safe on Sydney’s streets. The training and test is a big day but Ted makes it highly interactive, informative and a little bit of fun. I felt really well prepared for my MOST test because of the training we undertook. A great day. A great trainer in Ted. Highly recommended.

Fantastic experience: I did the practice session and MOST with Paul as the instructor. The practice session was really useful and amazingly done by Paul. He is very knowledgeable and skilled. He also gave tailored instructions to each of us in the course, which was really easy to follow and very helpful for the test, plus he was really fun . Would fully recommend it to anyone looking to eat their licence or improve their skill.

Fantastic experience: Gary our instructor was just a legend. We had all ages, all backgrounds / experiences in our L course and he could reach us all and give each of us what we needed. So glad to have had him as he was patient, knowledgeable and just the right blend of relaxed but professional.

Fantastic experience: I highly recommend booking at Botany. My experience was exceptional, thanks to the incredible presenters, Rob and Ted (Jean-Alexandre). Both of them are not only highly professional but also enthusiastic, engaging, and fun! I can't imagine going through the training without them. Their passion for what they do is evident in every moment, and they truly made the day memorable. The only downside is the long wait to book a session, so I recommend booking well in advance.

Negative experience: Booked training session. Received confirmation. Waited 4 weeks. On day of training was not on list, got declined. Lost a day of work and could not rebook as voucher experied seeing as it takes so long to get a class. So lost money as well. They need to get administration better.

Negative experience: I had done my Learners training with Stay Upright before and it was quite ok and well delivered. However, going in for my pre-provisional training with the MOST, was a completely different experience. The instructor 'Lorenzo' turned me away at my training before finishing the practice part of the training because he felt "uncomfortable" taking me onto the street even though I was ready myself and had no issues with it. His considerations for making this call was the fact that I had not ridden on Sydney streets since my learners, even though I told him clearly that I had ridden in Thailand during my holiday (where the streets are quite frankly much more dangerous and populated to be riding on). If the instructor is not comfortable, an alternative instructor should be provided or my money should be fully refunded. The company clearly has no respect or value for the client's time or money and is using this as a way to make more money. Even Service NSW agreed with me on this and said it makes no sense for them to turn me away from the training. If they failed me on the test that would be a different story and rather acceptable. Considering the fact that they are providing a 'service' that I am paying for (i.e the training), I believe it is their responsibility to have trainers that are comfortable enough in providing said training, to all types of students. Not only did they not issue me a full refund or another instructor for this, they also took over 5 days to respond to me after repeated follow ups, when I requested an explanation for this incident. Note: this is not the 'test' part of the training. In this time, my license expired and I will now have to restart from getting a learners again. They did issue me a refund for my 'bike hire' but the training section was neither refunded nor was the training fully provided. This is absolutely ridiculous as the training (being the service) that I paid for, was not actually completed or provided fully, for them to keep the money for this training, while I have received nothing for this payment. I will not be coming back to this centre for any further training, even if I have to travel much further away, to get it next time I go for my license. Consider yourselves warned of their scammy antics.

Fantastic experience: I did my day one course and unfortunately fell off the bike. As I fell, one of my gold bracelets (i should’ve taken off before) that I never take off broke off. I didn’t realise until a few days later and was worried that it would be gone by then. I contacted reception and was quickly returned my bracelet. The staff are friendly, supportive, and extremely patient and I am so happy that I got my bracelet as it is very sentimental to me. thank you so much to anyone that helped!!

Fantastic experience: I went in today feeling very anxious for my pre-provisional course and MOST, and left feeling accomplished and assured thanks to my instructor, Paul!!!! He was the perfect balance of witty and stern, and was very meticulous in covering the curriculum. Fantastic experience: In my recent motor cycle class at Stay Upright Botany there was a whole section on focusing on hazards, it was incorporated into our on-road ride. No mention though of baby chickens crossing the road as you pass through a village, a 'stick' that turned into a head-rearing snake lurching at me, buffaloes on the road, lots of slippery buffalo droppings, or a monkey that jumps down from an overhead wire almost on top of you as you are riding. No mention either of the 'safe' number of bugs that an ear enclosed in a helmet can handle after dusk. This all happened on one ride yesterday, on the island of Lombok, Indonesia. I do want, however, to say a huge thank you to the Mascot crew for preparing me in the way that they did.

Fantastic experience: Completed my pre-learner motorbike course with John and had a great experience. Having never ridden a motorbike or scooter before the lessons were done at a really approachable pace and I felt comfortable the whole way through.

Fantastic experience: I had a really good experience at botany. John was my instructor and can't recommend him enough. From having very little confidence at the beginning of the course, by the end of the 2 days my confidence grew massively. Got my licence a couple days later and have been riding everyday since then. If you are thinking about doing your pre learners course at botany know you are in very good hands.

Fantastic experience: I did the Pre-Provisional Course last week. Our instructor, Jean-Alexandre, was brilliant throughout the course and test. He made learning fun, engaging and relatable with personal stories and examples whilst ensuring that he covered each topic thoroughly. Following him during the ride and seeing how he applied the principles he taught us in the classroom was extremely valuable and I have seen great improvement in my riding thanks to his teaching. Well beyond enabling me to get my Ps, this course has made me more aware and more intentional in my decision-making on the road and a safer, smarter rider. Thanks Jean-Alexandre and Stay Upright. Fantastic experience: I did my Learner and now just finished my pre-provisional. They are very professionals and friendly. I did Learner with Paul, and he was great. I wasn’t confident with a scooter and he helped me out with that and the balance. He’s a great teacher. Today I did the course with Rich, and also he was really great. Good teacher, and specially very conscious with the danger out in the road, and he want’s to make sure you’re aware of them. Great place to get your license. Thank you !

Fantastic experience: I see Ted (the Aussie guy with a French name) come up a lot on these positive reviews. Sorry, not sorry, to perpetuate the broken record. Ted has a passion for bikes, riders, safety, teaching, and every other metric you’d want in a motorcycle instructor. Does not rush or drag things on, just delivers his lessons as required by his students - everybody walks / rides out of his classes full bottle, and if it not, it’s because the student doesn’t have the right attitude towards riding. He seems like a laid back instructor but he is firm in the areas where he needs to be and that is towards safe riding practice - really authentic in wanting everyone making it home safely whilst having fun, which is what all riders want for other riders. The customer service on the phones are pretty good, but even they could learn a few things from Ted in that area too. People like Ted are knowledgeable, competent, likeable and approachable from the perspective of customers and co-workers alike. TLDR: hire more people like Ted, you should even consider having him coach other instructors on how to deliver riding courses, phones sales, or any other sort of customer facing area of your business.

Fantastic experience: The learner course at Stay Upright was informative and heaps of fun! All the staff are super friendly and helpful. Malcom (the instructor) had a very calm and casual demeanour while still getting the serious points across, which is exactly what new riders needed to put their minds at ease while still learning the importance of what is being taught. Such an awesome experience. I successfully received my L plates the next morning. I'll be booking in for the more advanced courses in due time and can only hope I will be taught by Malcom again.

Fantastic experience: Stay Upright and Paul(instructor) came in clutch for me. My overseas licence expired, and the only available appointment at any riding centre close by was 2 weeks. Called Stay Upright and explained them my situation as use my motorcycle to commute. They suggested turning up for any one of the fully booked sessions in hope there's a no-show (I was desperate), which happens often as per them. Turned up 2 days after, there was a no-show, got everything done, got my licence the day after. Paul's an amazing instructor. Couldn't be more satisfied.

Fantastic experience: Sam was amazing! Sam was so patient and calm during my time here with Stay Upright. He made sure we all understand what is happening. He knows his teaching inside and out! I appreciate his teachings! And Paul was a great sport, adding a little of his style. He was still learning and training but I am sure he will do well. Fantastic experience: Our instructor Jean Alexandre (Ted) was fantastic. He genuinely tries to help everyone to not only pass the test, but also to ride better, more confidently and more safely. He also makes the course fun. He tailors his teaching to the students in the class, rather than just giving generic information, and for me in particular, he really helped improve my cornering with just 5 minutes of instruction. If you can book a course with him, definitely do it!

Fantastic experience: I recently attended the 2 day learner training at Botany. Morgan was an amazing trainer who wanted us all to succeed in passing the course. Besides being a lot of fun, I learnt a lot of the on road basics and gained confidence. Since then, I have passed the driver knowledge test at SNSW and have purchased a Honda Forza 350 (pending arrival). Couldn't be more excited to ride! I'm considering booking in for more training with Stay Upright once it arrives to further my knowledge and confidence. I highly recommend Stay Upright if you're looking to get your motorcycle licence.
