Best West Driving School - Perth

Fantastic experience: My daughter recently had a few lessons with Leigh, prior to taking the PDA, and found the experience to be very helpful. She felt very comfortable with Leigh who was calm, considerate and able to give her tips for approaching the PDA, and she passed on the first go. We would highly recommend Leigh as a driving instructor.

Positive experience: I had a fantastic experience with Best West back in 2012 when I got my license with the loveliest instructor. I was even her first flawless pass for an automatic! That positive experience left a lasting impression, and I was recently considering returning to Best West for my C class license. In fact, I had just been looking them up the night before. I had a rude encounter with one of their instructors on the street the other day. But hopefully that's not representative of the overall company culture. So I'll probably go with them again, just with a well-chosen instructor!

Fantastic experience: Barry is an excellent driving instructor! I would 10000% recommend him to anyone. He not only taught me everything I needed to know for the test but things that are so important to know for driving after the test. He made me so comfortable and never doubted me. I passed the test on my first try because of his amazing teaching!!

Fantastic experience: I just want to give an absolutely huge thank you to Zarghuna (ph: +61 422 165 951) from Best West Driving School. I went from nervous and unsure about my driving to confident and ready. She was by my side through the entire process of learning and then going for my test. She is such a kind and supportive person. She is amazing at identifying any issues and points of concern, and then guides you through how to correct them. I would 100% recommend her for anyone learning to drive!

Negative experience: I had A driving lessons with one of the instructor from this driving school named Zarghuna she had to be the rudest instructor i have ever met! She made me cry because of her attitude! She would be reassured the student but instead she had this nasty rude behaviour the whole driving lesson and i felt like going home! I was recommended by worksil to work with this company but i would never recommend anyone to book her ever! Unless she change the way she teach the students! Not recommended! Bad service

Negative experience: Disappointing Experience with Instructor Zarghuna I recently had the unfortunate experience of taking lessons with instructor Zarghuna, and I must say that I was extremely disappointed with her unprofessional behavior. Not only was she rude and offensive, but she also had the audacity to tell me that I was not competent. This kind of behavior is completely unacceptable and goes against the principles of a positive learning environment. Furthermore, when I requested a refund for the remaining lessons due to the unpleasant experience, I was only refunded half of the amount. This added to my frustration and left me feeling even more dissatisfied with the overall experience. I strongly advise anyone considering taking lessons with Zarghuna to think twice. Her lack of professionalism and disrespectful attitude make her an unfit instructor. I would highly recommend seeking out alternative instructors who prioritize respect, professionalism, and a positive learning environment.

Fantastic experience: I had 15 lessons with Zarghuna and in those lessons she taught me how to do all different types of parking. She helped me fixing my bad habits and preparing me for the test. I passed my test and felt confident while doing so. I highly recommend Zarghuna Hussaini as a driving Instructor to anyone who wants to learn how to drive. Thank you so much my instructor Zarghuna!!! Was really good time to have lessons with her. She is strict but also friendly and patient. She is really good at teaching !!! She teach me all kind of parking and other things which is in the driving test, for example the left something behind exercise. I was very nervous before meeting Zarghuna but after had lessons with her I started getting better and better I feel confident!!! Feel really grateful she teach me a lot. She is the best instructor from Best West Driving School.

Negative experience: Just saw their car on reid highway driving in right lane while left lane was empty, unfortunately quite usual in Perth. When I was driving past, as they were driving 10-20km/h below the speed limit, saw the elderly lady keeping her eyes more on the phone than road. Just stoked to see such an ignorance from driving school car…

Fantastic experience: Best west is awesome! booking lessons and communication i found was excellent definitely recommend Mike he’s super friendly and a great instructor always helped me out and when I had trouble with the task he’d go above and beyond to help me understand what to do in all situations.

Negative experience: Very disappointed with todays driving instructor. I would not Recommend Lorraine (lou) she was extremely rude & abrupt. I chose her thinking she’s a sweet middle aged woman who seemed friendly and wise. Not knowing she’s a grumpy bitter old woman ,also not to mention very intimidating, raising her voice unnecessarily. She had a very strange teaching style lol. she was extremely paranoid for no apparent reason. I made sure to remain polite & respectful during the lesson, as I really don’t like confrontation. She was rambling about absolute nonsense. She made offensive comments about my pregnant stomach. This instructor killed my confidence in order for me to book more lessons with her a strategy to make more money out of me. She wasted 30 + minutes of the lesson running me down on the basic anatomy of her car.(e.g how to wind the windows down ect.) as if it was my first time in a car & she clearly knew my log book was full, iv driven multiple times. …Obviously I know the basic interior features of a car. Luckily they have a 100% money back guarantee for the first lesson …. She was spiteful that I reported her to the head office, so she came back to my house to collect 2 free driving manuals she gave me. Lol how pathetic Still waiting for my refund . I really hope the other instructors are much more respectful than her.

Negative experience: My daughter had a lesson and a test. My daughter said the instructor was grumpy and moody before she even started. My daughter tried to clarify questions and she was impatient, rude and even yelled. She basically told my daughter you will fail before the test. My daughter was on the verge of holding back tears and was crushed by this woman’s insensitive remarks and she just lowered my daughter’s confidence instantly. During the test by now she was a mess. So of course she failed the test. The instructor tells my daughter ‘told you so’ so smugly. But now I will be finding an instructor for my daughter that is calm, patient and respectful to a learner driver. Not wasting my money on an instructor who destroys the morale of their clients.

Negative experience: If I could give no stars, I would. RUN A MILE! Seriously, just don't book this driving company. It's not worth it. The problem with this school is when you sign up to use vouchers like I did, ie., pay in advance for a bundle of lessons because it's advertised as 'cheaper'. I bought two sets of 10-voucher lessons for my daughter. $1000 in total, last September 2021. The school came highly recommended by friends. I felt in safe hands because it was a word of mouth recommendation. Nothing but hassles since the first week. The instructor assigned to my daughter, Sarah Harwood, began cancelling lessons the night before or morning of the lesson for 'personal reasons'. Sarah would then cancel the lesson online sometime later (days later) (proof is on their booking page - see attached pic) but instead of being credited back to our account, it just went into a black hole of 'nothing' - no lesson but also no credit. This went on for somewhere between 6-10 hours of lessons that were cancelled. As of today - 27 March 2022 - my daughter has completed 12 hours of lessons, with two lessons left in our account = 6 lessons still not credited. All of this is verified by their online booking system as shown in the pic below. As for the entries on 7 October 2021, there are two cancellations against no actual booking. I can't make any sense of it at all - so is that 2 more hours we are owed? My calendar entry at home says my daughter was supposed to have a make up lesson on 7 October, but it wasn't an official booking, as recommended by Sarah. It was just a 'direct with Sarah booking' (however that works). I first queried all of this in January 2022. Rang their office. Got the run around that what I was looking at in our booking profile online on my home computer wasn't what they had on record in their office computer system. Huh? If the school runs the computer system, how can we all be looking at something different. I spent 15 minutes on the phone explaining to 'admin' that it's simple math. Cancelled lessons = credited lessons. I got nowhere. I got told I had to produce my daughter's official log in book to prove she had (or didn't have) the lessons on the corresponding days. Here's where Sarah Harwood gets very clever. Rather than have my daughter complete the log book after every lesson, she told my 17yo to only record a block number of lessons at the end of the week. So, instead of lessons appearing on the days she actually had the lessons, the lessons instead appear as '4.5 hours' on some later date. In other words, there is no log book to verify the days the lessons actually occurred - which is what the driving school is now insisting is the only 'true' record. Thankfully, I keep a very accurate online home calendar of dates these lessons occurred, which is also verified and backed up by my daughter's school as on the days she was having lessons, I notified the school re same. I have frankly had enough of all this. In good faith, as a hard working single parent striving to give my 17yo professional driving lessons, I've experienced NOTHING but the complete muck around from Best West, its owner, their admin staff, and Sarah Harwood one of their drivers. I cannot recommend them, I won't recommend them. I urge you to run a mile in the other direction. Absolutely wish I had never set eyes on this company.

Negative experience: Im not using my real name for privacy, but the one instructor i had for best west was very inappropriate towards me and unprofessional. He touched the side of my arms and body unnecessarily, and he made comments about my physical appearance that made me feel really uncomfortable. When i tried to talk to the owner about this over email, he stopped responding to my emails and i tried to call twice and both calls were ignored. All around a really bad driving school, i do no recommend.

Negative experience: Very BAD !!! we just booked a lesson with them with keys2drive and the instructor didn t show up at the appointment. we called the office and they said that he was waiting outside and then left without let us know anything. Unbelievable!!!! they took our free lesson without doing any lesson !!!! be carefull people!

Fantastic experience: Can’t recommend Brigitte enough! She was super patient with me, prepared me throughly for my test! Absolutely 100% recommend her to anyone looking for an instructor!

Negative experience: Felt very confident before my first lesson. Instructor made me feel very uneasy and second guessing my driving on the first day and morning of my test and I failed. Most of the things I failed on were things instructor told me to change - would've been better saving my money and just going for the test, rather than attempting to get some advice so I could pass. Was also issue with the quote I was given between the office and the instructor so I ended paying over $100 extra. DEFINITELY WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND TO ANYONE!

Fantastic experience: I can say was really great when assist me on the Raod beofre I took PDA he's really a great Instructor and full of knowledge and friendly what an Excellent Instructor you had well done ..more power to Best and West keep.

Fantastic experience: Grace just passed her driving test, one daughter down an one more to go, Dan is their driving instructor and is very good at teaching the girls, he is comfortable and friendly to be around and instills the confidence needed to be a successful future driver, five stars without hesitation :)

Negative experience: They took my money and set me up for Failure This is the worst driving school in Perth, only out to make a dollar and once they new I was only trying to sit my test through them, they were more than happy to screw me around, show up late, and not help me adjust the vehicle so I was comfortable. Absolutely pathetic I do not recommend this company by any means unless you like throwing money at a brick wall!

Negative experience: I was recently driving in front of an instructor from this driving school and was appalled at their distracted driving. The female driver was fiddling with something on their dash and reaching in and out of their bag on the passenger seat. As a result the car was swerving in the road and a safe stopping distance was not maintained. This went on for at least five minutes until I became so concerned for my safety and that of my 2 year old son in the back that I pulled over. Disgusting from a driving teacher!

Fantastic experience: After driving under a Learners permit for upwards of about 50 hours I thought I'd be well equipped for the PDA. After failing once, I went to BestWest and learnt more 4 lessons than I did in the course of over a year and 45+ hours of driving. Passed PDA first try afterwards.

Fantastic experience: Barry is an excellent instructor, very dedicated and caring, he is giving more than you’ll expect. Not only teaching all the things that you need to know for the drive test, but also how to be a safe driver. He encourages me to be positive all the time. He made the driving lesson experience very pleasant and enjoyable. I passed my PDA at first go and highly recommend him all the time to anyone who wants to learn to drive! Fantastic experience: I am super happy with the Best West Driving Team. My instructor was really kind and understanding of where I was at with my driving and never made me do something I was uncomfortable with. I am proud to say I am now a CONFIDENT and SAFE driver! I highly recommend them!

Negative experience: Tried to book lesson, nil confirmation of lesson. Phoned to confirm the lesson to be told it was never booked in. I then made other arrangements for that day, only to receive a call to ask where I was for my lesson !

Fantastic experience: I am a late starter in the world of driving, mature I think they call it! I am also a slow learner! I phoned Best West after 30 years of putting of learning to drive - I just picked them out at random from the internet. I am really glad I did. I was allocated Kirk. He has been brilliant. I am so grateful for his unwavering patience. He always turned up either early or on time. He explained everything clearly, and repeated things until I finally 'got it'. He gave me faith that I could be a driver and at long last I actually am :-) Most of the time lessons were fun. Anytime I had to move a lesson or cancel the staff at Best West were really helpful.
