Fantastic experience: Adrian is a fantastic teacher and I can’t recommend him as an instructor enough! From the first lesson I felt comfortable in the car, as he is extremely friendly, clear and always willing to find away to help you understand and learn. He is also extremely flexible and will always try to find time in his schedule to fit your lessons in around work and life which is greatly appreciated. I can’t thank him enough for the time, effort and consideration he put in to help me gain confidence in driving and pass my test.

Fantastic experience: Adrian was referred to me by my husband and sis in law. I never drove before and having moved here in Perth, I’d need to get my driver’s license. Scheduling is always easy with Adrian, I started with weekly hour lessons. He initially assessed how I drive to know how many lessons I should take. We started with general driving, round abouts, turning without an arrow signal in an intersection, anything he observed that I am struggling with, he would take time to work on it until I feel confident and I can drive accordingly to situation. Depending on where you’ll take your assessment, he will train you in possible locations where assessors go, this giving me enough confidence on my assessments as I already know the roads. He was also a great support when I feel I am not mentally ready. I passed my assessment today and feel confident in driving on my own.

His dedication to my progress is evident in every lesson, making him an exceptional and effective teacher.

Fantastic experience: My experience with Defensive Driving School have been amazing and helpful. Booking lessons are easy. Lessons are also flexible in a way that, one can book in advanced, with some percent off. Students can also be picked and dropped off at home, school or uni. With the help, word of encouragement and believing in me, Shane made me believe in myself, as a safe and confident driver. He was also clear with his explanations and provided constructive feedbacks. These helped me inprove my driving. Just with two lessons, and from seeing how I drove, Shane knew I was ready for a test (I was not believing in myself). Shane has also helped me book my driving tests. These were smooth transitions for me. I would highly recommend Defensive Driving School, and Shane in particular, as a driving instructor. Fantastic experience: Really can’t recommend Adrian enough as a teacher, he’s a kind, open minded and skilled instructor who cares about his students success and helped me get enough confidence to pass my PDA and get my P’s after a long time struggling before I signed up with him. Every teacher will have a different style but I found Adrian’s way of teaching suited my style of learning so it was easy to gain the skills I needed to get to the good level I’m at now. Thanks so much Adrian and Defensive Driving (PS I also had a few manual driving lessons with John before I decided to go automatic for personal reasons and I thought he was a good teacher too!)

Fantastic experience: A good driving school to get manual transmission training.They are equipped with modern and clean vehicles which designed solely for driver training.They offer pickup from home service for the nearby suburbs just by calling the number. So, it is good if you do not have a vehicle to practise. They offer automatic transmission training too. The good thing is they are able to do PDA at nearby DoT centres.

Fantastic experience: I would highly recommend choosing the Defensive Driving School if looking for driving lessons. My instructor was Adrian and he was superb. He was calm and friendly right from the start and is willing to explain road rules, driving techniques and more however many times you want. He also took me to the neighbourhood where I was planning to do my test and practised possible routes that the assessor’s could take you on. I did 2x 5 lesson packages with him which was perfect to get enough practise before my driving test, which I passed first try. Thank you Adrian!

Negative experience: Such a bad experience! The instructor Guri would not give out her phone number only email... which she would not respond to. She didn't turn up on occasion and 2 days before my daughters test(when my daughter messaged to confirm the time) said she had another lesson booked at that time! so that was $117 lost. My daughter is stressed and I am furious. Beware!

Fantastic experience: The instructors at this school are very knowledgeable, patient and very adaptable to the needs of students. My experience with Brian was excellent he eased my nerves behind the wheel in no time at all. If I could give a 6th star I would.

Negative experience: Didn't show up for my wife's booking this morning. Tried to call, no answer. Sent a message, no response. Time waster

Fantastic experience: Simply amazing. I faild 2 times before, but with Gerhard from Defensive Driving School it became so simple for me that I passed with flying colors. Gerhard is outstanding. Very calm, very patient and understanding. I am glad I took lessons from him. Hats off to Gerhard and Defensive Driving School.

Fantastic experience: Brilliant friendly staff, very helpful.

Negative experience: The instructor didn't even show up! I booked a lesson for 8am, scrambled to get ready in time, and sat by the front door for half an hour before deciding to call them to see what was up - and no one answered the phone, despite me trying several times. I would understand if they were 5, 10, or even 15 minutes late, especially if it was the middle of the day and they were running late from the previous lesson - but at 8am?? Don't waste your time with these fools - thankfully they take cash, so they didn't get their pathetic little hands on my money :)

Fantastic experience: I HIGHLY recommend Ian as an instructor !!! I have nothing but good things to say about Ian- he has good communication, a great teacher and knows how to help you improve. He helped me pass my test to which i'm very thankful for ! You should definitely book your next lesson with Ian !

Negative experience: That was the worse ever experience I had. My instructor was Gerhard which he didn't provide what I need to learn for the exam and he just set lessons to get more money without instructing the sections of exams. I had about 12 lessons with him and he didn't even train the "left behind sth" before exam and I just tried to learn that on YouTube. He just got my money and was not worked and trained that much with me for the exam. As a result, I failed my exam very easily and that's why I decided to get another instructor and fortunately I passed my second exam with him just by doing 5 lessons which my new instructor cover all the exam parts. So, I highly didn't recommend this driving school and especially this instructor, Gerhard which it was just wasting time and money!

Positive experience: My wife took lessons with Defensive Driving School. After paying for lessons up front, the driving instructor cancelled an hour beforehand & would respond when she tried to contact him to arrange. She is still owed a lesson from the school. Wouldn't recommend

Negative experience: I decided to go with defensive driving because of the name they have. When you think of defensive driving, you think of careful and well executed driving. I found this was far from what i actually got and learnt. My instructor was friendly and good to talk with but his teaching techniques were appalling and it felt like he wasn't teaching me so he could make more money. Some of the following quotes come from my instructor "Don't worry about the car behind us, if they hit us, they have to buy us another car". Generally you learn through repetition, my instructor only allowed me to complete the task once and then we moved on, if i failed at the task then i was not given a second shot to try again, i had to move on. The whole thing felt rushed and stressful and not once did we practice the the exercises that are done in the test. After failing my test with these guys, i moved school to go with apex driving school which was a far better school than these guys. You hear "Make sure to check behind you before you brake" and "Make sure to look everywhere in the intersection before going over a traffic light". Apex's cars also felt in better condition than the ones at defensive driving school. In defensive driving schools vehicles, the cars gearbox feels mushy and the clutch feels like it had seen better days. In apex driving school, the clutch was tight and the gearbox felt in good shape. Trust me i know what a good gearbox feels like, i drive a honda s2000 with a short shifter gearbox. I was told at apex that the car was serviced every 5,000km which was entirely believable, defensives car felt like it had never been serviced its entire life. One specific incident i had with defensive is when the instructor thought we were late getting back to my house. He yanked on the wheel which cause me to vear into traffic to overtake a truck, all so we could get back on time. I PAID FOR 100 MINUTES AND I ONLY GOT 90, I GOT SCAMMED BY THESE GUYS. i mentioned twice to my instructor that he had only given me 90 minutes but he refused to correct the mistake. Evidence can be found in the photo attached in the review. TDLR: Don't go with these guy because they scam you for your money. Use another driving school like Apex even though those guys cost more.

Negative experience: Adrian is a shocking instructor and hasn't learnt the road rules, I pity anyone that goes with him. Utter waste of money using him.

Fantastic experience: John is an absolute lad who assisted me to pass in a single PDA, very patient and calm as an instructor 10/10 can recommend for him to everyone.

Negative experience: Just seen one of the instructors flying down roe highway swerving thru traffic tailgating and having his hand and some times his head out the window I would not let my children be taught by these hooligans and you shouldn't either

Negative experience: I Cannot recommend this school at all, except instructor John. I lost my booking and my money for driving test today just because they didn't arrive at the DVS Cannington for the appointment that we had. No calls... nothing The booking was made in two weeks in advance No excuses.
