Ricky got me over the line, a feat none of us thought I would achieve, he helped me when I was anxious and was so encouraging. Fantastic experience: I highly recommend Ricky, my instructor through Drive. He has supported me through the process of getting my manual license, and is a simply phenomenal teacher. He is clear, thorough, calm and patient, and every lesson I have had with him has been both valuable and insightful.

Negative experience: I had Steve as my instructor throughout the time I was doing manual driving lessons. Then on one lesson, he told me to switch to driving an automatic car rather than a manual car at the end of a manual driving lesson because I wasn't grasping the concept of driving a manual car. I changed driving instructors and passed first time

Positive experience: Not a bad experience, but not a great one either. I learnt several important skills to ensuring safe driving on the roads. My instructor was adamant on ensuring these skills were maintained and honed to make certain that I drove safely. In spite of this, on several occasions, my driving instructor would seemingly fall asleep (eyes closed, and snoring) whilst I was behind the wheel; long hours, I get it, but it is not safe with an inexperienced driver behind the wheel. Additionally, he was also a bit pedantic, I.e. turning slightly more to perform a reverse parallel park when it was already performed to an adequate standard. Furthermore, closer toward booked PDA times, he became far more rude and exerted more pressure, which broke my confidence before the practical driving assessments. I will not be recommending this school. Overall, my experience was OK.

Fantastic experience: So happy with my instructor Jay. He’s the best ever, helped me to get my P’s and has been a great support! Always calm and found a way to explain things in a way I’d understand. Negative experience: Anna Clark is not my real name. I saw the blue logo every week so I’m sure it’s them. I wasted my time and money. My instructor is not even listed on the website I don’t know what this means. He finished lessons 15-30 mins earlier for a couple times, sleeping (closing his eyes) during a lesson and didn’t practice parallel parking. I don’t wanna mention every single details but my experience was, unfortunately, terrible.

Fantastic experience: I started lessons with Rory after about four years on my L plates. I've been dealing with anxiety for years and was a very nervous driver, but Rory was very good at going over what I needed to know without making me too nervous or uncomfortable behind the wheel. I would absolutely recommend him!

Fantastic experience: Had Steve, Jeff and Lewis as instructors due to my changing schedule which they were more than accommodating to adapt! I’ve had multiple instructors beforehand which I didn’t seem to find helpful or were too fast in their teaching style, however each instructor from Drive has been amazing! Lewis, my final instructor, was super helpful and had amazing tips and definitely calmed me down when the time came for the test which I passed second time round manual!! Thank you all! :)

Negative experience: Don't book bulk lessons with this company they will wriggle out of their responsibilities and won't honor what you have paid for. Driving school scam and cancellation policy wasn't explained. I have been scammed out of my money because it wouldn't be fair to give me a refund? Poor peter? $190 down using this school, once they get your money they don't want to honor the lessons, never pay in advance. The problem with this school is that they get you to pay in advance and then scam you out of lessons by using vague terms of conditions that aren't explained and claim to have sent reminders that never reach me? I had peter show up to my house when i wasn't their several times, because i wasn't told about the lesson or sent the emails as you claim Steve. I thought this was a good driving school. just a bunch of scam artists hiding behind dodgy terms and conditions, fabricated reminders, and the fact that you have several drivers that hold the responsibility, so you can deflect any wrong doing to them. Beware of these thieves! Big names Some big schools are happy to use a brand name to attract pupils. When you come to complain you find out that the big name wants nothing to do with you. All driving instructors are self employed and those working for big names are just renting a car with a logo on. They may use the big name to attract work but as soon as anything goes wrong the company won’t want to know and you’ll be told that you need to complain directly to the instructor. Many pupils choose to learn with a big brand because they think they only have the best instructors. Not true; if their instructors are so good then why don’t they have their own school? Instructors at some big schools get work because the company spends millions on advertising. Instructors, or driver trainers, such as myself attract work through recommendations and reputation. Which is the better reason for choosing an instructor? Don’t be fooled by big names. Some of them will take on anybody because the more instructors they have, the more money they make. They don’t have better instructors and there are often no interviews to pass to work for a school. Make a complaint and you’ll get the standard reply – “All our driving instructors are self employed and we cannot be held responsible for their actions.”.

Fantastic experience: I had Andrew as my driving instructor up until yesterday when I passed my driving test first go. He is very nice. He was very patient and calm with me always. And he taught me in a clear and logical way which made the whole process easy and enjoyable. I highly recommend any new driver to use this school and in particular Andrew as an instructor. It was way better and also less stressful than using a friend or family to teach me. Thanks again to Andrew and Drive Perth’s Driving School.

Fantastic experience: I recently passed my PDA at City West. Steve is an absolutely fantastic instructor who truly cares about not just preparing you for a test, but also getting you ready to drive on the roads in a safe manner. After weekly lessons it’s very easy to strike up a friendship with Steve as we always had fun and it didn’t really feel like someone was directly teaching me, rather passing down experience and skills. I really like this approach as it feels like every week you are personally becoming a better driver, instead of just following instructions. The Holden Astra is incredibly easy to drive and the dual controls allow the instructor to take over at any time. I wish Steve and his school the very best and I can highly recommend Drive Perth to anyone.

Fantastic experience: Background: Absolute beginner with zero experience driving. I took my lessons with Steve. Being a beginner I had no idea about how cars worked but my instructor had it covered: from the very basic acceleration/brake controls to the way they tie in with the transmission and gears. There were many areas where I needed good amounts of practice e.g. adjusting to traffic conditions with parked vehicles on left lanes, taking note of pedestrians/motorcyclists jumping into the roads where we intend to turn, to name a few. Despite committing mistakes repetitively, Steve was able to find a teaching method suitable to me and ensured I drove comfortably making full use of the controls. Would certainly attribute my P-plates and my driving skills to Steve’s teaching. Excited to take forward the good habits I gained during my lessons, and to apply them in practice.

Fantastic experience: Cameron was my instructor and I couldn't recommend enough, the efficiency and techniques that are taught are brilliant. I got my PDA First time around at mirrabooka it is down to the instructor cameron was easy going and really willing to teach you new things to help you during a test, best of all he was calm and patient.. My kids are very happy that there mummy can drive them around now thanks so much worth every dollar

Fantastic experience: Lewis is a patient and experienced trainer. I cannot thank him enough for all the support and patience that he showed while being my instructor. I recommend him to everyone looking to get their red Ps. Learning driving in late 20s is already torturous and that too on a manual car and on a foreign land. Lewis taught all the important aspects of driving in an easy and nerve calming way. Many times i bugged him on text messages to ask about rules while practicing with my friends and he always replied.

Fantastic experience: Drive Perth provides a comprehensive program that covers more than just the basics as they strive to help you develop necessary essential skills. Unlike other teaching methods that other driving schools may offer, you begin by learning the content before you try it on your own which is more effective than driving blindsided without knowing how to properly carry out the task (whether it be manoeuvres, changing lanes or how to approach dual carriageways etc). I had the pleasure of Al to guide me through and since my first lesson until my last, he had been patient, kind and very supportive. If I made a mistake he would always help me overcome that and suggest ways I can prevent repeating that mistake again in the future. Every lesson was an enjoyable one, he makes great conversation and throws in a dad joke or two along the way all so that you can feel comfortable while you're driving. Al is always punctual, professional and very flexible if you have a busy schedule. Every lesson teaches you something new that you may or may not have known and is definitely worth the money and choosing lessons that are cheaper. There isn't a single negative thing I have to say about the lessons I received and overall Steve has done such a wonderful job providing such professional and highly trained instructors to give you high quality lessons. Thanks to Al and Steve, I passed the driving test and although it is sad to say goodbye, I am forever grateful for all they have done to help me achieve this goal.

Fantastic experience: Myles is the most caring, positive and passionate instructor. He will go that extra mile for you to ensure you learn to drive safely and ace your test! As a mother of two kids and returning to work getting my licence was essential. Myles always made every lesson enjoyable, comfortable and knowledgeable. Fantastic experience: Initially I had mixed feelings about taking lessons with Drive, but after my first lesson with Alan I knew I'd be getting more than my money's worth. Alan conducts each lesson with great quality and professionalism. He always explains the theoretical reasoning behind any maneuvers and driving habits, which really helped to improve my understanding of practical driving practices. Alan has completely transform my perception of driving instructors. He's a really chill dude that loves a good conversation. He's also very patient, which really helped me learn new driving skills quickly because he made me feel very very comfortable in every lesson. Not once had he ever got annoyed at the mistakes I made, no matter how big they were. Passed my diving test yesterday, and would 110% recommend Alan for anyone who wants to pass too!

She said he was a great instructor and he must have been as I have no problem sitting in the passenger seat while she drives. Fantastic experience: I had a car accident in November and completely lost all my confidence driving, I found Drive (after previously being with two other driving schools) and decided to book a lesson to see how I would go, right up until the moment I got in the car I felt physically sick even thinking about driving to the point I was going to cancel my lesson but I decided to go ahead with it and I had Alan come and pick me up. I have done about 15 lessons with Alan and I have gained all my confidence back, picked up new skills and Alan has helped me lose my bad habits. I would hands down say Alan has been the best instructor I've had, I felt so comfortable driving with him, he didn't once get annoyed with any little mistakes I made and explained everything throughly so I could understand. I went for my Manual PDA this morning and passed! I have and will continue to recommend drive to every person I know that is looking for lessons.

Fantastic experience: Steve of Drive is a phenomenal driving instructor. He is a cautious driver who thoroughly enjoys his job. Not only does he present the theory behind driving in an organized manner, his explanations are clear. Steve also clarifies his answers to questions, and is patient enough to repeat his reasoning until the learner has fully understood. During the lessons, he respects the silence needed by the learner to concentrate, yet is more than willing to converse and indulge in some humor. Steve is direct when addressing faults and highlights the good traits of a safe driver, he emphasizes on the aspects that require more attention so as to accelerate the learning process. In addition, he encourages independence in the learner’s driving, and is always on standby to hit the brakes or grab the steering wheel when necessary. Furthermore, Steve has an in-depth understanding of the driving system in Perth and exploits this knowledge to augment the chances of success in his students. This includes training in the region where the test will be held, safely demonstrating or explaining the mistakes other students/drivers have made, explaining what the examiners look out for, thorough mock tests and various tricks of the trade. He teaches at a high standard that exceeds the requirements of the Perth roads. However, this is to the benefit of the learner, especially on the day of examination where the nerves are distracting. This higher standard the learner will have learnt by should let them pass the practical exam, even on the off day. As one of his students, I was pleased to learn from him and have a laugh. Fantastic experience: My son recently passed his driving test with Drive. The instructor was patient, friendly and knowledgeable. He imparted his considerable wisdom in an easy to understand way and demonstrated an abundance of common sense. I was lucky enough to sit in the back for a few lessons and it was a valuable learning experience for me too. Drive has taught my son to look out for potential hazards and be a more thoughtful, considerate driver. I have two teenage children and have witnessed three different driving schools in action. The Drive driving school is by far the best that I’ve encountered and I can’t recommend it highly enough.

Fantastic experience: I cannot speak highly enough of the quality of the instruction from Drive Perth. I had lessons with a rival Driving School prior to finding Drive Perth yet was turned off by their lack of understanding and patience with me. Well... didn't I get a surprise when I went to meet my instructor for my first lessons. I received expert instruction. I had my instructor explain to me with diagrams all of the different elements that were crucial to my success as a manual driver not just to pass my test but also to ingrain responsible driving techniques into my driving for life. I was so impressed. I was making the change from holding an auto license over to having my automatic restriction removed and being able to drive a manual. Despite my years of driving experience I was extremely nervous about driving a manual. I was put at ease by my instructor's easy going and very calm demeanor and as a result, despite still feeling nervous, was able to gain the confidence quite rapidly to be able to pass my test first time around. Fantastic experience: I would like to thank Steve for his outstanding teaching and mentoring. Steve’s teaching methods and lesson plans, both theory and practice, are of high quality. I found Steve after I failed my first PDA with another school and lost all my confidence. I could feel THE DIFFERENCE on the first lesson with him. Every lesson I have learnt with Steve was very easy to understand and follow. The instruction was very precise. His great attention to detail sees no room for error. He would not allow a single mistake to happen while I was driving and that has eventually paid off appreciably. Fantastic experience: Steve, our favourite driving instructor! My fiance & i both did lessons through Drive and it was a thoroughly helpful experience. Initially, i wasn't going to do manual, i was told by other people that i'd probably have much difficulty picking it up, but Steve has a real good & methodical way of explaining this stuff. Steve was also really patient and encouraging, which was definitely helpful for someone who looks as permanently worried as Sam the eyebrow cat. Totally recommended.

Fantastic experience: My Fiance and I both got our manual licenses through Drive and found it to be a highly thorough and helpful driving school. Steve was incredibly patient and explained not only how to drive safely, but why certain things were important as well as giving a brief overview of the theory of how a manual car works when I first began learning which helped make it a lot easier. Even when it felt like I had hit a wall with my learning, Steve was persistent, calm and encouraging, effectively helping me get past it. The lessons are structured in an organised, productive fashion, benefiting the learner to get the most out of his lessons in a short amount of time. His easy going and patient personality is what makes his lessons enjoyable and comfortable- there is never a dull moment with him. He helped me build my confidence back up and was very patient in his teaching. The lessons were very well structured and covered all aspects that we need to know to pass the test. Fantastic experience: As an extremely nervous beginner who had encountered some pretty dodgy instructing in the past, I was looking for a driving instructor who could help me feel comfortable, confident and safe behind the wheel....I am so glad I chose to call DRIVE! Steve is a delightful instructor who is not only extremely patient, calm, and encouraging - but also keenly alert, astute and knowledgeable. The lessons are nicely structured to tailor to an individual's progress and allow efficient advancement in skills. There were very few drawbacks to the many good points, all of which i will cover in a second. When you start your lessons with Steve's school, they will assess your driving level. No pressure whatsover. Then they will go from there. The lessons are well structured, and this pays off. They won't miss a thing to teach you. The teacher is as gentle and patient, as it gets. I never ever felt stressed with him. No yelling, no nothing. Steve also has a background as a mechanic, which is helpful for explanations and tutorials. Since they drive dual control cars, the teacher will always be there to get you out of a thick situation. If you make (and you will) make a silly mistake, they are watching you non.stop, and their attention will save you from many situations a learner will come across.On the other hand, they know EXACTLY, WHEN to intervene for your safety. I've had bossy "teachers" who, really, did all the driving by themselves, and hardly let ME drive at all. These guys are different. Very well balanced. What I liked most, was that safety was foremost. The teacher will get you into a habit (that might save your or someone else's life) of checking EVERYTHING. He would never miss if I didn't check a mirror; he would come up with examples to show me (a stubborn student) WHY you should keep checking that particular mirror (and trust me, he has one, or several, real-life stories for every single safety procedure!). He would keep pointing out hazards to look out for, making me realise that driving is not about rolling along, it's about attention, awareness, calmness and safety - I felt like THIS is the driving EVERYBODY should be doing! + teaches a driving style that consists of Awareness, and thus safety. dual control cars (both manual and auto) very individual gentle super patient beautiful personality - pricey tough to get a spot, but they are expanding their business at the moment in order to deal with this issue didn't always pick me up from home, but instead met me somewhere Conclusion: Yes, they're dearer than other places. And yes, at the moment you might be LUCKY, if you get a spot with DP. But I would always bring others here. If I needed a refresher course, I would come back here. If you want your child (or yourself) to drive with utmost awareness, give Drive Perth a call. They are worth it. Hands down.

Fantastic experience: I am currently learning to drive with Steve. His style of teaching and easy to follow techniques help me to relax and not worry. I like the way Steve takes the time to explain things and even when I get things wrong Steve stays calm and friendly. I think Steve is especially good for people who may be a bit nervous.
