Fifth Gear Motoring

Fantastic experience: Fifth gear motoring installed a hoist in our Subaru. All the team of Dean, Ricky and Tori were friendly, helpful and customer focussed. The team provided timely and exceptional service. They really made it easy to use the hoist with great instruction, hands on practice and follow up. Having the hoist has given me so much independence! We can’t recommend Fifth gear highly enough!

Negative experience: Barely tick of any competencies each lesson. It would take like 15 lessons for you do get it done. They switch the driver your given every lesson and are just in it for the money.

Fantastic experience: Would 100% recommend Fifth Gear Motoring! Currently doing regular lessons with Imrè…an absolutely fantastic instructor who prioritises your needs and skill level with structure and consistency. These are your guys for all your driving needs!

Fantastic experience: Fifth Gear is a really good option for learners who are looking for experience and extra hours towards their total. My driving instructor, Imré, has been really helpful with teaching me skills like reverse parallel parking, and the courses they run are helpful for gaining road sense and hours. Their structure is more friendly and flexible than the typical government assessment method. I highly recommended both their lessons and courses, definitely worth the price.

Fantastic experience: I have had multiple lessons with 5th gear however, there’s one instructor I recommend. Imré is extremely approachable, making every lesson comfortable and engaging. Though I have only had him for two lessons, I’ve single handedly learnt more than all of my others. Highly recommend Imré man’s the goat.

He was cool, calm and collected (even when I didn’t feel it!), always providing great tips and guidance and ensuring I understood the actual mechanics of how the car was working. Would rate six stars if I could!

Fantastic experience: The team at 5th Gear were fantastic. Diagnosed the problem with the wheelchair ramp and door on my Chrysler during a home visit. Took the car away. Fixed the fault, added preventative guard to stop it happening again then brought the car back to me 2 days later. Excellent support. Fast turnaround. Nice people. I couldn't recommend 5th Year's service higher. They are tops!

Fantastic experience: We have now had two of our kids - a boy and a girl - work their way through the log books to their 'P's with Fifth Gear - excellent experience with both. They are professional, organised and respectful. Unlike some other driving schools they don't try and drag out the lessons to try and make as much money as possible, instead they make sure that the kids are safe and ready. Very highly recommended!

Fantastic experience: Best place to learn to drive for everyone! I am in my 30s with a fear of driving as there is so much going on at all times! I also didn’t have anyone else I could practise with so all my driving experience came from them. Tracy is a phenomenal instructor who studies you and then teaches you accordingly. She’s such a kind and funny soul! I am almost sad that I learned how to drive as I miss our drives. The customer service is also brilliant! Dean is fantastic as helped with sorting my lessons so I never had to worry. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: Tristan from 5th Gear taught our son how to drive a manual car and was a patient and supportive driver trainer who built a great rapport with him. The lessons were something our son looked forward to each week as he saw his skills develop and confidence build. He also undertook the ACT Safe Driver Course and Vulnerable Road User programs 5th Gear offer which he found really beneficial and could actively put skills taught into action during his one-on-one lessons. Booking sessions was easy, Dean is very helpful and understanding and the online system is simple to use. Cannot recommend highly enough, thanks Tristan and 5th Gear for being part of our son's milestone "getting his licence!"

Fantastic experience: Kim was an incredible instructor who not only shared his knowledge on driving passionately, but was also very perceptive to my personal learning style and communicated patiently and empathetically. I only learned recently in my 30’s and was terrified of driving, but after several lessons I can now drive independently and almost confidently all over Canberra!

Fantastic experience: Vincent was an incredibly patient but also very knowledgeable instructor who I felt comfortable talking to and raising questions with. Those that I talked to over the phone were also really helpful and made getting my P's a breeze. I couldn't recommend 5th Gear enough.

Fantastic experience: We did the 5th Gear skidpan training course in Canberra today. Great atmosphere, firm but appropriate rules and guidance, great non-judgemental group of participants. Age range of participants from 17 year olds to mid-60s; from Corolla to Porsche to Toyota RAV4 to BMW. Perfect for fun or learning about what happens when your car slides - or both. Everyone should do this! 10/10.

Fantastic experience: I had lessons with Jack first and then Matt. Both of them were friendly. Jack was very passionate about driving and he passed his passion on me. I even started thinking of talking some advanced lessons after I got the license. Matt was professional and perfect. He was always be on time, even most of my lessons were at early in the morning. He also has a clear view of what is the plan so I understand what I need to do or to expect.

Fantastic experience: An excellent driving school! The office staff are very helpful, the online booking system is fantastic, and most importantly the instructors were wonderful. My son had Jonathon and David in the Belconnen area and was really happy with them both. They were very calm and clear in their instructions, giving him confidence, and helping him to learn quickly and safely and pass his assessments first time. Highly recommended!

Fantastic experience: I have just successfully completed the logbook learner course and received my provisional license with 5th Gear and it's all thanks to Jonathon! I am normally an anxious driver and have failed driving tests in the past, but after a few lessons with Jonathon I felt not only competent but confident behind the wheel. If you're a first-time driver (or a worried driver, like me!) and you're happy to learn around the Civic/Ainslie/Reid area I cannot recommend his engaging, patient tutoring enough. The Minis themselves are awesome to learn in - especially when it comes to parking and 3-point turns. Overall I feel that this driving school was well worth the cost for lessons for their professionalism, flexibility and team of excellent teachers.
